Title: Captain's Quarters
Ship - February 1, 2008 03:44 PM (GMT)
[Located just below the quarter deck, this is the Captain's personal quarters. It is cluttered with maps and personal possessions, a bed and table.]
Clark McGowan - May 5, 2008 08:33 PM (GMT)
As Clark enters the captain’s quarters her feels a twinge of regret in splitting up with Tori. Sure they were covering more ground, but this ship was giving Clark some serious creeps. (I'll just call her. No let her be, don't be weak here. Figuring this ship out is a lot more important than me not being scared.) The past seeing witch walks around the small room. His eyes roll over the many maps scattered about the table in front of him.
He slides his hand down the side of his right leg, feeling his mother's athame tucked into his pocket. The fact that the weapon was there seemed to comfort Clark in a way. He steps around the table and begins to look over the maps more closely. Clark had never been good at geography, and most of the calculations and symbols on the old parchment make little to no sense to Clark. But then something pulls his vision away from the maps. A Pair of old glasses are sitting at the edge of the table.
(Perfect, something actually used for seeing. Maybe I can get some more information this time, find out what the hell is going on with this damn boat.)
Clark reached forward and gently picks the glasses up off the table. He slides them on to his face. The lenses obscure his vision significantly, but Clark ignores the slight headache the lenses invoke. Instead he calls upon his power of psychometry to use on the pair glasses he is wearing.
Vision - May 13, 2008 01:47 AM (GMT)
Clark experiences the vision through the eyes of the one to whom the glasses once belonged...
| QUOTE (The Past) |
The door to the captain's quarters burst open suddenly by some unseen force. In the frame, silhouetted against the night sky, stands the form of a woman who enters shortly after. Illuminated by the light, the woman's beauty is undeniable.
"Have you come to a decision?" She asks, and although there are multiple men in the room, it is clear to which she speaks. The captain steps forward and he is nearly as beautiful as she.
"I have. And I will have no part in it." The man's words are strong and mask a deeper fear that he has. Never before had he thought he would know fear in the presence of a woman, but he does for she is no ordinary woman. "Now leave my ship."
"Have no worry for I shall take my leave." Her tone is harsher this time, responding to the brush off that she has just received. She narrows her eyes at the captain. "Have no part in it will you? Well damn you." The ship lurches suddenly, driven by an unnaturally severe storm outside. The woman's eyes gloss over and her very being seems to crackle with energy. "And damn this ship." |
Clark McGowan - May 15, 2008 01:47 AM (GMT)
Clark reaches up and slides the glasses off his face. He looks at them as he holds them in his shaking hands. That vision was more intense than anything Clark had ever had before. The fear and tension in the room was palpable. He quivered as he set the glasses back down on the table. He begins to pace around the room, fidgeting with his hands as he thinks. The key to freeing the boat lies with understanding what happened to it.
(Well she was either a really pissed off witch, oh maybe a gypsy, do gypsies get the powerful? Damn it focus, she could have been a demon too. The captain did not seem to like whatever offer she made him, no she had to have been evil. Maybe she was some sea goddess or something, which could explain the weather powers. Maybe she is some rare sea creature, like an evil mermaid or something. Evil mermaid? Ariel with a bite!)
Clark reaches the opposite side of the room and turns on his heel, then continues to pace in the opposite direction.
(So whoever that white eyed woman was, she cursed the ship. So what is the curse, I would say immortality would be a first. Considering they are still kicking. Though where they are currently kicking I'm not sure. Haven't seen and pirates yet. So what do they do every 20 years? Well obviously they must kidnap people or something, cause that guy earlier was not too keen to stay at this themed party. They probably use the fog for cover. But if they aren't "evil" why are they kidnapping people? That must stem from the curse some how. Ok so breaking the curse? Hmmm, I have a feeling I'm gonna have to vanquish milky eyes, that may not be easy. O.K. all this guess work is useless time to get some answers.)
Clark turns have way across the room and walks to the door. He steps out on to the main deck.
Landon Beck - May 28, 2008 03:59 PM (GMT)
Landon enters his quarters, allowing the door to slam behind him as he crosses the small space. He takes a seat at the table with its maps and other essentials spread out across it. Grabbing a small glass of whiskey that is, yes, one of the essentials on the table, Landon downs it in one gulp and sets the empty glass back down. He wets his lips, content, as he reflects upon the events that just transpired out on the deck. Time and circumstance is responsible for his bitter angst for he had not always treated other so coldly. However, 200 years at sea with an eternity to look forward to does strange things to a man. It twists him.
Leaning back in his chair, he crosses his legs, one over the other, upon the table and folds his hands across his abdomen. He looks to the door, waiting for the three do-gooders to burst through in righteous outrage. It would not be the first time that such an event has transpired, and it would most likely not be the last. So he simply waits for the inevitable for it's all he can do.
Daria Fallen - May 29, 2008 12:17 AM (GMT)
A few moments later, a polite knock is heard on the door before Daria appears within the frame. She steps into the office and looks at the various maps, compasses, the bed, and then finally the table. Her eyes slowly roam the objects before meeting the captain's eyes. "I'm going to assume that you're not used to people going against your word, but you'll come to realize that times have changed since you last ... Made port." Daria tries to choose her words carefully. "Unfortunately, my friends and I are not here to become part of your crew. I've received a premonition about your fine vessel. And I doubt the reason was to become damned along with the rest of you." She says calmly.
She takes a few slow steps forward. "But I can't help you unless you tell me what's happened." She tells the captain. (And I plan on getting this overwith before dawn. I fully intend to see my family again.) Daria's eyes watch the captain fr any tell he may display. He's already told her volumes with his manner. But perhaps being met with something other than what he was used to would inspire him to take a second look at his situation.
Clark McGowan - May 30, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
B]But I can't help you unless you tell me what's happened."
Clark enters the cabin just quick enough to catch Daria's statement. He wasn't to keen on her using "me" as apposed to using "we". (I was so here first. If you're gonna join in, at least try some team work.) But Clark does not let his irritation show, being hypocritical will not help. No, Clark's just going to have to be nice like always.
"I know what happened."
Clark now looks at the captain right in the eyes.
"A particularly powerful woman made you an offer you couldn't bear to accept. As punishment for your refusal she damned you, your crew, and this whole bloody ship to an eternal roaming of the see."
Saying it out loud makes Clark realize what truly horrid torture Landon has endured for centuries, his eyes grow somewhat sorrowful.
"Who was she?"
Landon Beck - June 2, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
"Do you believe that, in two centuries, you are the first sorceress to board my ship?" Landon looks to Daria almost as if he expects her to answer, though his tone would say otherwise. The rhetorical question is clearly sarcastic and biting. He goes to continue but is interrupted by Clark's entrance.
Staring blankly at the witch, Landon's mind fires off some obscenities that he chooses not to voice. Though he expects new passengers to bristle under his authority and demeanor, there is still a certain level of exasperation with actually dealing with it. He says nothing, however, and simply listens to Clark mouth off about something he only has a vague idea about.
"Details are a little off, but I suppose it's close enough not to really matter." Landon pushes his chair back and stands up. Leaning on his fists, which are set on the table, the captain looks his two visitors squarely in the eyes. "You should have done your homework before boarding my ship because now that you are here, it's for keeps. I'm sorry for the circumstances in which you find yourself, but it is what it is. I suggest you get used to it."
Daria Fallen - June 3, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
(Hmh. Interesting.) Daria stores the information in the form of a rhetorical question in her mind. She senses the man's bitterness about there not having been anyone sent here with the power to help. It was clear that it was rhetorical, therefore she simply acknowledges the comment with a smile.
Daria's head turns towards Clark as he enters. She had expected Jade. Had she known what was going through his mind, she may have chastized him for it. At least, in her mind. There was no need to be selfish. Or split hairs. When he says he knows what happened, she supresses the urge to roll her eyes. Yeah, okay, they knew his side of the story, but they would need details.
But, she listens with mild irritation as Clark retells the story that they both already knew. (I was asking the captain, not you, young man.) Raising an eyebrow as if to say something to him, she instead turns her attention back to the captain as he speaks, never wavering her eye contact with him.
"With all due respect, Captain, I'm not used to giving up." She says as gently as possible. "I, along with my friends here, were sent to help you. And that's exactly what we intend to do." Her tone is gentle, yet firm. It is quite clear that she is not going to back down, and she fully expects the captain to help them. "I can't imagine you want to be at sea for another day, let alone another century. So," She steps closer to the desk, only a few inches between it and herself, so she is face to face to the handsome captain. "Back to my original question. What exactly happened? In detail," She says the last part more for Clark's sake. She knew the basics, but the basics never got you very far. "My friend and I did as much research as we could, but we didn't find much." She tells Landon. "I need as much detail as you can give us, so we can try to figure this out." Her tone is concerned, hopeful, gentle.
Tori Galloway - June 5, 2008 07:18 PM (GMT)
Dozens upon dozens of orbs reform, taking the shape of Tori Galloway. She quickly scans the small quarters, making sure that Clark is okay and that nothing bad has happened. From her quick glance, it seems that they are simply having a conversation. No real danger, aside from the fact that they were trapped on a pirate ship by a curse that no one has been able to break.
But that’s not too dangerous, right? She crosses her arms, choosing to remain silent and let the conversation continue, but she couldn't help shake the overwhelming feeling that something was going to happen very soon. It isn't so much a sensing power in over drive, but more of an intuition. Almost like a sixth sense. Like she has a feeling of looming danger that is going to be showing it's face very soon.
Landon Beck - June 8, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
"There's no need." Landon states, his eyes now looking to the window in his quarters. The night sky is getting lighter though the sun has yet to dawn. It is nearly time. He addresses Mirella with both his words and his eyes once more. "It's nearly dawn. She will be making an appearance soon enough."
The captain sets his feet down on the floor and rises from the hard wooden seat. He circles around the table, stopping before the three strangers. Though he has never been exposed to a whitelighter, he has seen enough in his day not to be affected by the light show that is orbing. "So if you'll join me out on the deck..."
Landon lets the sentence hang as an open invitation. He then passes through the group and out onto the main deck. He has no doubt that they will follow. Out of curiosity if nothing else. That and what else are they to do?
Daria Fallen - June 8, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
Daria looks at the captain incredulously. (No need? Wha - Is he mad? I'm here to-) Daria's thoughts are cut off when Landon informs them it's almost dawn. She looks out the window, then at her watch. "Five o'clock?! How has an hour gone by already?" She demands of no one in particular. She then watches the captain pass them onto the main deck. "Appearance? Ooohh, that can't be good," She mutters as she follows[/b the captain.
Clark McGowan - June 11, 2008 08:11 PM (GMT)
Clark turns as the light from Tori's orbs catch his eye. As he watches his whitelighter orb in he throws her a greeting smile. He returns his gaze abruptly to the captain as he speaks of pretty vision lady making an appearance. (Oh boy, here it goes.) But before he can say anything, the captain is out the door and on to the deck. Eyes wide he turns to Daria, but she plows out too, muttering as she goes. Now Clark looks sarcastically shocked to Tori.
"You know, you think they would wait twelve seconds for some one who's trying to help them!"
He steps forward, and gently grabs Tori forearm.
"I have a feeling we shouldn't miss this."
Clark leads himself and Tori on to the main deck
