Title: Posting Format

Jay - April 14, 2007 05:10 AM (GMT)
There are some very basic rules to posting on A Charmed Legacy that will be discussed here. These rules are non-negotiable and all members are expected to follow them. The rules are as follows.
  • In-Character (IC) posts will be done in third person (he, she, it) and present tense (buys, runs, talks).
  • Actions will be in basic prose. For example: He walks across the room.
  • Speech will be encased in quotations. For example: "I can't believe he said that!"
  • Thoughts will be italicized. For example: That bitch. OR (That bitch.)
  • When quoting speech from other previous posts, the quote is to be bolded and italicized.
  • Out-of-Character (OOC) posting is not allowed in IC forums ever. There are OOC forums created for commentaries, questions, etc.
  • There is a 5 sentence minimum for all IC posts. Speech, thoughts and one word sentences used for effect purposes do not count.
  • Exception to above rule - There is a 3 sentence minimum on all movement posts. These are the posts done at stairwells, doors, etc. Teleporting does not fall under this exception.
This is the basic posting structure on ACL. For notes on how to do specialized posts such as phone calls and spells, see the appropriate threads.

Spelling and Grammar:
We are all human and prone to make mistakes. However, the spelling and grammar of some members is so horrendous that it makes it difficult to read through without being distracted. Therefore, I am implementing a new rule similar to the one on CAoP.

Habitual bad spelling and grammar that detracts from the post will be punished by the member being placed on Moderation Preview. This means that all posts done by this member will be need to be looked over and approved by the staff before it is posted.

Ways to avoid this little issue are simple. Read over your posts before hitting the 'add reply' button. Reading aloud is especially helpful. Using a word processor will also help lessen the errors or using Firefox v2.0 which has a built in spell check.
