Since the witch trials, magical beings on both sides have been thrust into the public eye, but not necessarily in a good way. Nearly all mortals are aware of the existence of magic. However, there are still some restrictions on what you character can do or know, and if you have a question regarding that, then ask.

Forces of Light – Those that join the forces of light may have a background in magic, but should not be beyond their level in terms of talent or abilities. Also, the knowledge of whitelighters isn't as restricted as before. However, only those that grew up with a strong magical background, or had cause to interact with their whitelighter on a regular basis are aware of their existence.

Forces of Darkness – Those that join the forces of darkness almost always have a strong magical background. Even still, characters are bound by their individual levels. Evil beings get more leeway in terms of knowledge of the magical world since they are bred from a more magically saturated environment.
