The Halliwell family has gone through a lot in the past twenty odd years. The power of three is broken. Phoebe was killed fourteen years ago by a warlock, Paige now lives with her husband and son while teaching at Magic School, and Piper helps her eldest with his Ascension and prepares her youngest to replace her at home.

There have been additions, losses, and changes to the family as well. Leo is now a mortal. His wings were clipped after his last fallout with the Elders. Phoebe’s two children, Victor and Melinda, moved in to the Manor after their mother died and their father, Jason Dean, decided he couldn’t handle raising magickal children. Chris has taken over the club and the Manor since Piper plans on living with Wyatt. Paige’s son, JR, lives with her in their San Francisco home.

The Charmed One’s father, Victor Bennett, died a few years back after battling with cancer. The Morris' have left San Francisco after Darryl retired from the force. Andy has since become a whitelighter, and assigned to the Halliwell children. Bianca is engaged to Chris and the two plan on marrying sometime after the Ascension. Bianca has given up her heritage as a Phoenix and now fights for good. She is also Wyatt's personal bodyguard.

Up There, the Elders have been preparing to step down, and relinquish control of all, except whitelighters, to Wyatt. However, old habits die hard. Behind the scenes, the Elders have been setting up fail safes. Will Wyatt discover them? Will they do more harm then good?

The Underworld has been without a Source since the days of The Charmed Ones. However, now that Wyatt Halliwell draws closer to his ascension, evil has bound together to raise its new ruler. This Source is a mysterious woman that appeared and began banding demons together beneath her cause. No one has seen her true face, and she is as ruthless as any Source before her.

It appears another great battle between good and evil is brewing. As both sides crown new rulers, tensions are climbing once again, and now everyone is preparing for an attack. It has been over twenty years since an all out war had seemed inevitable. Will Wyatt be able to avert it and crush his enemies as his mother and aunts did before him? The world itself has gone through only minor changes thus far. Most of which are technological advances. Such as the fact that most service employees are robotic (waiters, police officers, etc.) and other things of that nature. But it appears that the magical world will not be able to continue to hide from the mortal, and the mortal world can no longer afford to ignore the magical.
