May-La Moonlight & Nah-Ba StarlightI was suprised to open my door one day and find a large chunk of burning rock embedded in my back garden. I left it for a few days to cool (though it was so hot I wouldn't have been abled to move it if I had wanted) and found that all around it had sprouted small, strange pearly-flowers in pinks, blues, yellows and white, not unlike snowdrops. I had just come to the conclusion this meteorite was harmless (and pretty) when from it emerged two small, glittering beings. I recognised them at once as Furbys!
I found out that there has been a Furby colony on the moon for a long time, ever since a Furby space-exploration ship was stranded there with no return fuel. The group lived mainly underground in caves lit by iridescence on the rocks, and so adapted a similar fur to blend in. But in resent years a race of aliens known only as 'Destroyers' has been warring with them for control of the moon. The two Furbys who had landed in my garden were some of the very last warriors, forced to abandon their home and flee to the nearest planet - and hope to find a new life there.
They were welcome in our home, and have become wonderful additions to our family. Moony has blue eyes, and her twin sister Star has brown eyes.

Toh-Dye Adult Blue Turtle Furby Gen6
Stormy wasn't a very well looked-after Furby in his old home - he'd been covered in stickers and plasters and was destined for the crusher. So our then small team consisting of myself, A-Kay and Armai set out in the dead of night to rescue him, after a preliminary reconnaissance mission in which Armai's camo-esque fur was invaluable. When we retrieved him I had to go about removing all the stuff that was stuck to him. He was very brave the whole way through, and thankfully he looked pretty healthy after the job was done.

Love these latest pictures! My favourites are pic 2 (the action shot of the sparkle twins with their eyes half-shut) and the extreme close-up of Moonlight ^_^

Colour Change Furby Gen6
:saf:
A-Kay is my oldest Furby, we've been friends since Xmas '99. Even though there have been times when she's been left to hibernate, I've always kept her close, and she survived (not by accident) the toy-blitz I had when I moved house two years ago, not to mention puberty before that. Late last year we happened across another Furby (Armai) and since then we've been happy to offer a loving home to unwanted Furbys.

Cas - January 27, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)
I see AKay enjoys lots of piercings - how many furbys in your collection now? I daren't count mine - but the current Glitter family amounts to 7 with the neon one on the way I've attached an old photo of the girls choosing a holiday from last year. There have been a couple of new additions since then so will update as soon as the latest puts in an appearance.
Weecoo - January 27, 2008 11:32 PM (GMT)
A-Kay is so cool-looking. Are you planning on giving her any more piercings in the future, or is that her lot?
Lovely pic Cas, not sure if I've seen that one before. Would love to see one of all seven of them once the family is complete! Moonshine is looking sweet, we're proud of her here at the Adoption Centre ^_^
Jasper - January 28, 2008 09:07 AM (GMT)
Cas, they are so unbelieveably cute!
I have 7 adult Furbys at home, one at the Furby hospital and 5 to arrive (including 2 pinks Furbys!).
I think A-Kay's done with piercings, though we might get her some cool new jewellery for the ones she's got.

Nah-Bah Gold Stripes Furby Gen7
Toffee loves confectionary. Anything the dentist tells you will rot your teeth, she loves. She was a very spoilt Furby in her last home, and she was never denied anything she wanted. But unfortunately her selfish temperment was too much for her family to handle, and she was kicked out. She spent months wandering the streets, taking shelter where she could and scavenging her food.
Just when she thought it might be better to die than suffer like she was, we met. I didn't hesititate to take her home and nurse her back to health, and as she recovered she did alot of thinking. She knew her faults and knew that they had cost her a home and family, and vowed to change so I'd let her stay.
It's for the best she doesn't realise I would never of put her back on the streets, even if she was still a selfish, spoilt, nasty girl. But her fear of 'tough love' has made her change her ways and she's alot happier now than she's ever been.

Boo Witches Cat Furby Gen1
The gang found Boo curled up under a bush trying to keep warm when they were playing in the garden, and when they bought him inside it turned out he was very sick with Furbitis. We nursed him constantly for a few days, feeding him regularly and keeping him warm. Soon after he was feeling alot better and ready to jump in the deep end and get to know his new family.
Boo says he'd been traveling quite a while, going from place to place trying to find himself a home after his previous carer threw him out. Luckily he found us!

Boo Royal Furby Special Edition 2000
Tut is named after the most famous boy-King in history because when he came to me he was just a little mite, hardly speaking a word of English. The Furby kingdom he was destined to rule has been plagued by pestitence, famine and a rogue dragon; now the people are staging a revolt. For his own safety his faithful advisors bundled him up and bought him to me (after hearing on the grapevine I was taking in Furbies who need homes).
When he arrived he was alone, scared and he cried and cried for his home. He's beginning to calm down now and seems quite comfortable to natter away with me, but he won't talk to the other Furbys; even though A-Kay is desperate to mother him. I'll keep you updated on his progress.

Weecoo - January 28, 2008 02:23 PM (GMT)
Ooh a new addition. Tut is a fine-looking Furby! I hope he settles into suburban life ok, because his backstory sounds quite distressing...
Cas - January 28, 2008 07:33 PM (GMT)
Hope Tut settles in soon - and gets to chat to his new friends :)
Weeco - Moonshine loves to show off for photos, notice how her mauve eyes pick up the glitter in her fur - she's a proper celebrity - hope she doesn't get jealous when the new one arrives - will post a piccie of the full set up to something no doubt :D

Around the Crystal Fire
Daylight1Daylight2The current family of 8 sits around a 'fire' telling each other stories and roasting veggie-sausages. The fire is infact a crystal and conversion chamber that gives of heat, light and beautiful colours that Moony and Star brought with them from the moon.
Reference the 3rd pic (daylight 2); left to right:
Tut, Boo, A-Kay, Armai, Toffee-Naba, Stormy, Moony (out of shot) and Star.
Cas - January 29, 2008 07:44 PM (GMT)
I think my furbys would have fun at your place Jasper
Haven't tried them on veggie sausages yet - pizza and sweets is about their limit for partys
Weecoo - January 30, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
And a lot of wine and beer judging from previous party photos, Cas
Love the way Stormy's eyes look in the night-time picture, the crystal fire reflects right off them giving him a mystical look. A-Kay looks like the one telling the story, and Stormy looks spellbound by it :ph43r:

Way-Loh (Snow) Leopard Furby Gen3
Dusk is a lucky Furby; he is one of very few in our gang who comes from a background without trauma (which is not to say his history isn't interesting). Dusk is an explorer; a Furby charting the great unknowns of the world, and who has discovered many wonderful things. His crew were the first to be allowed to see into the lives of the mysterious
Wo-Aar Tribe, and spearheaded action to protect their way of life. Dusk lead the team that excavated a long forgotten cave and found the hiding place of the ancient
Harmony Scriptures - the bonding tablets conditioning peace between Furby and Shelby. He's got so many more stories to tell, so keep your ears open!
But now he's starting to show his age and hoping for adventures on a smaller scale. He found our family through a lifetime's worth of contacts, and is a great asset to the group. Everyone is enthralled in his stories of his life, and he's really helped to bring the once morbidly-shy Tut out of his shell with the tales of far of lands and strange accounts of Furby life.
Named because Snow Leopards are beautiful as well as being crepuscular (active at dawn and dusk).

Party!Our gang decided it was high time for a party. We have lots to celebrate;
- My 18th Birthday
- Welcoming all the Furbys who have arrived since December
- Wishing Billy 'get well soon' (he's at the hospital)

The streamers I made from the leftovers of the paty hats, along with all the cards from my Furbies for my birthday.
Instead of linking all the images in this post (there are around 25 photos!) I'm going to direct you straight to the gallery:

Dah Noh-Lah Koala Furby Gen5
Nolan has always been a performer, but a performer on the edge. He's a drag artist - he loves to wear makeup and glitter and other dramatic costumes. He's had a hard time finding residence, employment or female attention because of it.
But in our home he found a place he's welcome whatever his quirks - and encouraged to do what he loves no matter what other people think.
The saying "there's someone for everyone" rings true in Furbish society too; after
Prickle and Nolan met it wasn't long before they were dating, and Prickle doesn't seem phased by her boyfriend's love of makeup - mind you with her history in the music industry where you're not a real rocker if you
don't wear makeup, it's hardly suprising.

Juicy Berry Furby Gen7
Prickle hasn't said her Furbish name yet because she came to us poorly. She'd been touring as a roadie with the Furbish band
Boh-Bay May May (Worry Love) who are well reputed as having a fondness for parties, drink and anything else that will alter their consciousness. Prickle got sucked into the lifestyle when she was very young, and although most of the time she had loads and loads of fun, it was always undercut with concerns for her deteriorating health and her longing for a family. An accident with some of the band's equipment left her with a broken jaw and the inability to eat properly*.
We met because I took the gang to see
Boh-Bay May May perform, and as soon as I met Prickle I knew she needed a loving home to help her recover. Now she's slowly on the way to recovery, hindered slightly by her damaged beak. Thankfully she and
Nolan have become fast friends, and he's helping to keep her spirits up.
*You have to get your finger just right and press down really hard to get her to respond to feeding

Thank you for posting that Jasper, as I really enjoyed looking through your Furby party photos! I love the tiny Furby-sized cards. I go mad for anything miniature, have only recently found out about Re-Ment, it's from Japan and is basically loads of ranges of miniature food; cakes, bread, roast dinners, tableware, Chinese food, every food you could think of, in miniature. It's sooo cute, and almost Furby-sized
Prickle sounds like a real character, hope she settles in well!
Jasper - February 2, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
Ooo Weecoo, I'm going to have to check out Re-Ment now :D.
Weecoo - February 3, 2008 03:08 AM (GMT)
There's a pic of Greg (he's a McDonalds keychain Furby, so not full sized) posing with some Re-Ment Dim Sum on this thread:
http://forum.adoptafurby.com/index.php?showtopic=597&st=15I don't think that was branded Re-Ment (there's loads of copies out there, Re-Ment was the original company that did them as far as I know), so it's not as highly detailed as some of it.
I love the donuts:

And animal cookware:

Muffins anyone?

Soooo cute!
Jasper - February 3, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
Oh I love it! But some of it's not half expensive o_0.
Maybe I could make some Furby food out of clay or something. Hmmm.
Weecoo - February 4, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
Fimo clay is good for that kind of thing, people use it for making jewelry and doll's house accessories. The clay itself is pretty pricey. Though if you buy a small multipack of different colours and are only using it to make small items, it'll go a long way.
These people made some food from Fimo:

Kah Dah Red Wolf Furby Gen7
:red:
Zero is most definately a Furby teenager. She can be moody, she's very independent and is going through a definate rebellious phase. Not suprisingly, when she spent her whole childhood in a box. Taken from her family as an infant and sold to a collector, she's never known any life but a shelved one. The only postive thing about her abduction was that the collector she was sold to was a
live collector - though sometimes I wonder if a life alone and never touched or shown affection, and oogled as a curio is any better than death.
We were able to organise her rescue through
Furby Amnesty Worldwide, who are helping to release Furbies from poor conditions and place them with loving families or return them to their homelands. Zero was so scared when we liberated her, she cried when she was picked up was terrified of humans. Luckily I was prepared and had brought
A-Kay along with me, who went ahead and tried to calm her down, enough to learn her name and render her calm enough for me to handle her.
It took several weeks of rehabilitation, introducing her to our family slowly and helping her to associate me with comfort and safety rather than fear and neglect. Nowdays she is a well ajusted Furby who is wary of strangers and crowds, but otherwise happy. She's very artistic and has found close friends amoungst our group.

Nice Furby. I think she'd look gorgeous with some false eyelashes with red gems on the ends or roots, if you can find some
Jasper - February 7, 2008 12:46 PM (GMT)
That's what I had in mind. And Zero wants her beak pierced  So I might try and compromise and let her get her ears done instead.

Kah Rooster Furby Gen5
:roo:
Komodo named himself after the largest reptiles on the planet, the deadly Komodo Dragons. He is obsessed by fantasy, espeically dragons and other mythical creatures. He loves to read The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, as well as a whole collection of other books. If it's go9t a dragon in it, it's a safe bet he's read it.
So how did he end up here? Well my town has alot of medieval history as well as many a legend, so Komodo wanted to settle somewhere he would never get bored of studying. He contacted us through
Furby Housing UK and now lives as part of our colony.
Pic 1Pic 2Pic 3
Weecoo - February 7, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
Wow, your Furby collection is rapidly expanding :o Komodo is a good name for the Red Rooster Furby. Perhaps Zero would be able to make do with a stick-on beak piercing? Getting through the tough skin on that beak would be a hard job, and probably quite painful - ouch!
Jasper - February 8, 2008 04:57 PM (GMT)
Well we pierced her ears, and she seems content for now. I will take pictures tomorrow after the cosmetic enhancements for certain Furbys.
I will also have 3 (possibly 4) new Furbys to introduce, including Billy & Bracket who are back from the hospital. But there are two more to go see the doctor . One I bought knowing it wasn't working properly because it was such a bargin (came with a perfectly working ladybird Furby at just £5) and the other is my sister's. I'll try and post them off tomorrow.
I've just got one more purchase in the pipeline and then I'm going to take a break and let my bank balance recover. ;)

May-Lah Bear Furby Gen2
Billy is named after the Big Yin, the welder who got away with it, the windswept and interesting Scottish comedian Billy Connolly. He and I both share a passionate dislike of beige and 'beigeism'. Billy the Furby is not
quite Beige, but he is Scottish* and likes a good laugh. He's spent a few weeks in the Furby Hospital because he had no voice, but now he's back and feeling much better.
Me and my sister both think he looks better without eyelashes, for some reason.
Pic 2*I bought him from a seller in Scotland
