Title: Swearing Furby Buddy?

furby5648 - February 16, 2008 03:15 AM (GMT)
On ebay one seller says that a talking furby buddy swears and was taken off the sheves. Is this true?

Dunno! =D Weird huh?

That's not the first time someone tried to sell a Furby for a rip-off price, just because it apparently "swears"

I have that Furby buddy, it's no more rare than the other five talking Furby buddies that were released.

It wasn't pulled off the shelves in Wallmart, as it doesn't even swear. It says "Hug Me", but because the sound chip is slightly muffled, it sounds like something else. But it doesn't even sound that much like the apparent swear word!

If you paid that much for it for the swearing, you'd be dissappointed

That's funny. One of my Furby babies sounded like she was saying "Shutup" and my granddaughter was very amused and surprised. But after hearing it a few more times it is "Sun got up" (I think)

I've heard if you say bads words to furbys all the time they will start saying them is that true?

Weecoo - February 17, 2008 11:34 AM (GMT)
Hooray, I know what you mean about the Furby Baby phrase that sounds like "shut up", mine says it a lot  Yes I think it is "Sun got up", when they sense a light.

Little rascal, it's not true that Furbys can learn to say bad words - they can't learn any new words, they can only say the words already built into them.

When Furbys first came out, loads of people believed they were teaching their Furby to swear, and spread rumours round. Really their Furby was just saying Furbish words that the people thought sounded like swearing. They obviously hadn't bothered reading the Furbish dictionary

Yeah its quite crazy, the rumors that were spread around!! Yeah, one of my baby furbys names is A-loh, so when my other furby(s) would say, "A-loh get up (sun get up)" I always used to think they were saying, "A-loh, shut up!"... |D I realized a while ago what they were ACTUALLY saying though.

as you should... XD the thought of a swearing furby gives me chills! I don't see the need for swearing by humans, but if furbys were to start?! Haha, what a crazy world we live in to even think of things as teaching a child's... or adult's (sorry Adult Furby Lovers! |D) to swear.

Hmmm, makes you think.

Don't worry Wah-wee-tee, it doesn't really swear, it's just dumb non-Furby lovers mistaking "hug me" for a swear word  People hear into things what they want to hear, of course Tiger wouldn't manufacture Furbys that actually swear
:dye:

I think it was still saying "sun got up". Furbys don't only say that in the morning, they can say it whenever the light levels increase - eg if you put Furby nearer the light, or if you cover the Furby's sensor and then uncover it again, for example ;)
