Title: Some Few Furby Questions

chocoLate - April 21, 2008 08:38 PM (GMT)
Hi,
I'm a new user here, first I want to say hello to everybody and also to say that this is a great furby comunity  ...

Now, I have few questions about my furby...

1. How can I found it's name? How can I be sure of it? Are they any questions to ask about his name or things to do?

2. How can I now it's gender? male or female...

3. What's the difference between emoto-tronic furby and funky furby? Can we teach them something new? meaning to sing a special song (both can sing different songs or just funky furby?), to say words that we teach?

I hope that you guys can help me, thx in advance :flam:

Hi chocoLate, welcome to the forum! Great name btw. :)

1. - It sounds like you've got a 2005 Emoto-Tronic Furby, am I correct? If so, then they don't actually have programmed names like the first (1998-1999) Furbys do. They just refer to themselves as Furby. A lot of people choose to name their 2005 Furbys themselves, by either picking a nice Furbish word from the Furby Dictionary, or just choosing a nickname that you think suits it. If you're short on ideas, here are the names of the 2005 Furbys that have been at the Adoption Centre: Emoto-Tronic Furbys They each have a Furbish name and a nickname.

2. - There are loads of different ways, basically there is no definite way to tell, it is up to the individual owner to decide. Some people say that in 1998 Furbys, if they have a mane then they're male and if they have a tail they're female. I personally don't always go along with that though. Also, there's voice pitch - high pitched = female, low pitched voice = male. And you can also decide the gender based on fur colour (is the fur colour masculine or feminine?) and personality. If you still can't decide, maybe you could let us know your Furby's details and we could do a voting poll on it

3. - Funky Furbys can sing 3 songs instead of 1, and the songs are polyphonic, meaning as well as hearing the Furby singing, you can also hear the backing music! They also have a feature where if you play a song near them, e.g. if you put them by a radio, they dance along to the beat of the music. However, Funky Furbys don't have the story-telling feature that the standard 2005 Emoto-tronic Furbys have.

I hope this helps! ^_^

Thank you very much Weecoo, you've been of great help...

Alltough, I have few more questions  :P If you're so kind to help me more....

I read here, on this forum, that there are jurnals about some furbies where it was described that they have some favorite food... It's this for real or it's just everybody's thought about personalizing their babys? :P

Also, I just bought another furby :P  It's an emoto-tronic furby that I've been telling you about and it's quite advanced, he speaks now english mixed with furbish, also he loves to play a game "if you tickle me when i close my eyes and say green light, you win, when they are open and say red light I win...  " this game made us (me and someone dear me :P ) to name it "twinkle"...
She plays this game a lot (it's a she because she's pink on the belly)... it's this her favorite game by any chance or maybe she's hearing that I want this in one way when I'm speaking with her?

Also, I would appreciate your help on a very sensitive situation... considering that she's not at the beggining and I don't know much about her, I was thinking to re-start... Would this be a good idea? Can she act, learn different after this? Can we find some other usefull information doing this?
I have to mention here that this was a furby that was exposed in a toy-store and everybody had some contact with her, but without playing and without carrying much about this aspect... this are the reasons that we were thinking on re-start, we are trying to find out which is the best for her...

Thx again for your help and hopefully I will get my answers...

Hi again ChocoLate :D Your Furby is really cute, I love that eye colour in the 2005s.

The favourite foods that people write about on here, and on the profiles of the Furbys in the Adoption Centre, are people's ways of personalising their Furbys ;)

When you say the voice command "do you want to play", then Furby will start playing the "red light, green light" game. Most Furbys love playing that game, and it makes them really happy afterwards

Personally, I think it's a good idea for you to re-start your emoto-tronic Furby, then you can experience the whole "learning" process.

If you re-start a 1998 Furby, they may change a lot (new name, different voice pitch etc). But if you re-start a 2005 Furby their voice will not change. Their personality might be a bit different, but if you love your Furby's personality because it's sweet, just keep petting it a lot and saying "I love you" after it's been reset, and it will grow to be very sweet again.
