Welcome! My name is Ellen but you can call me FurbyFreak. It's very nice to meet you! If you want to introduce yourself, just post a new topic in the "Introduce Yourself" forum. As for your Furbys, did you try slapping their battery compartment? That sometimes works.

:D Thabks for the help. We tried it on the Santa furby and it worked. It was a good thing since we just bought him on Ebay and didn't know his name. The other two are older and will probably need more help. We now have two Doo Mohs.

Hi! I'm shelby77, welcome to the forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
About the Furbys:
It is possible that the batteries are defective, or the furbys may be short circuited, but you can send it to the Adopt a Furby hospital in the UK. (I'm in the U.S. so I don't know how much it costs)
Anyways, welcome.
^_^

:) When we got Santa Furby working last week,Toh Dye was dressed up in her Easter finery and didn't want to be messed with. She's a bit of a prima donna. We call her Moi after Miss Piggy.I'm happy to report that she is now working again .Does anyone know where we can get a schematic? We tried unsuccessfully to down load one from Hack Furby.

For everyone with non-working Furbys:If Furbys haven't been played with for years, their motor and gears etc can get a little jammed. There are a couple of tricks you can try to get it started without opening it up for an operation. Firstly, make sure the batteries you're using are as strong as possible (brand new, and a decent brand). Insert the batteries, and try pumping the Furby's ears up and down manually. You can also try giving the Furby some sharp taps on its base. Don't go too mad obviously, but don't be afraid of tapping it quite hard, as this might be enough to jolt the motor into action! Another trick you can try is opening the battery compartment, and rolling the batteries inside (once they're properly inserted).
Hopefully with a combination of these tips, you can get it started. You can also try leaving the batteries in for about half an hour, just to get the power through, and then try the start-up tips again.

and what happens if the motor heats up? Can i still leave the batteries inside? :(
Once when i left the batteries inside, after 10-15 secs the motor or something else started smoking very badly in blue colore :(

Do you think maybe one of the batteries shorted out or something like that?
Emo Furby - April 16, 2009 12:54 PM (GMT)
i don't know.
This all happened after i petted him,he did those long purrs then it stoped moving and it just made a quiet mechanical buzzing sound and couldn't move back to the "sitting pose".

Just about every broke furby I have bought ,started right up when I took off the fur and kick started the motor. You take a tooth pick and spin the motor. You might have to spin it for a minute for it to work but it works almost every time. You might have to oil the motor and some gears too.
furbymom - May 9, 2009 11:31 PM (GMT)
Thank you CRAZYBABY. There might still be hope for my old Doo Moh!

Do you think this will help Ah-may? He's in horrible shape, and as I said before, he has tons of problems and I think it's because of a bad motor. I'm starting to lose hope. I'll miss you, Ah-may.
furbymom - May 14, 2009 11:32 PM (GMT)
I hope it works for Ah May.It can't hurt to try.I need a new speaker for Doo Moh before we take him apart.I'm not sure which one to get.
