Title: Looking For A Little Help

Morgain - April 19, 2009 09:32 AM (GMT)
Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and I had hoped my first post here would be to introduce myself and my furby, not to ask for help on reviving my furby.

This is what's going on: I bought this furby baby a few days ago on a Dutch version of ebay. The previous owner was e collector, but she stopped collecting and sells her furbys now. Anyway, I picked one of her furby babies and she send it to me by mail. She had wraped it carefully, so I don't think anything went wrong there, and she had also tested the furby before sending it to me, back then, it worked fine.

When I put batteries in the furby it seemed ok, but I told a friend who was with me at that moment I thought something was off, I can't tell what, but something in the movement of the furby seemed strange. After a while the furby started freezing up. His movements became far to slow, but he kept talking.

So basically what I've got here is a furby with a full working voice/speaker, but refuses to do the right movements. At first I thought it was the eyes, but after taking the fur and casing off I'm starting to believe it's the beak. As far as I can see, when the furby baby starts talking his beak doesn't move the way it should, thus slowing down all the other movements as well.

Does anyone know what I can do about this? I've got the furby here with the fur and casing off, so anything that has to be 'operated' I can get to it right away.

hi nice to meet you :)

i think the problem is the Sticky Beak syndrome. That's a problem when the Furby can't move its beak perfectly and it seems that it's stucked. That problem is very bad, because it stops the motor and it makes a buzzing sound after freezing the motor up. He needs a new beak, because it is somehow stucked and it makes the other gears and also the motor move slow. If the gears and the motor are slow and can't move so fast as they have to,the big electricity will the stucked motor and the gears heat up and it will burn out the motor :(

Here's a link about Sticky Beak syndrome, hope this helps:

Yeah, I thought about that too... But I'm a curious person, so I tried some things, including taking the beak off. Without the beak the furby still has problems. Now that I was able to see the motor it seems that something inside the furby gets stuck and slows the motor, but it isn't the beak. I tried lubricating and it seemed to help a little, but not as much as I'd like it too. I'll just keep trying, even if I can't find a solution I will learn about the inside of a furby, which turns out to be quite interesting :P

I've been gone a while. You can help your baby with some WD-40. Put a couple of drops on top of the motor you put it behind the right eye. Put a couple at the bottom of the motor right under the coil of wires on the motor. Take a tooth pick and spin the motor to loosin it up. In the space below the motor you will see some gears. The one under the motor is the one causing all the problems you need to put a couple of drops on the top and especially under it. Put a Couple of drops on the other gears too. Start up your furby. If it don't start kick start the motor with your toothpick. Once furby is moving put some more WD-40 on the gear under the motor. I fixed one last night that had the same problem it runs fast and quiet now. Let us know if it works for you please. I can't stand to see a sick Furby.

thats how mine got fixed

CRAZYBABY - July 3, 2009 08:41 AM (GMT)
I sorry to tell you it has nothing to do with the beak. It's the gears that are below the motor behind the speaker. I have fixed over a dozen with this problem. Once you oil those gears furby will be like new. I have a jester I just got that is doing the same thing. He will be having an operation soon. He talks and his movements lag behind. He'll be through saying words but he keeps moving real slow till his motions catch up to what he has said.

oh it sounds like that furby might need to be oiled you might have to...............soory but maybe operate it and i dont no how to do it.

I think I'm pretty much the American doctor. And furby babies fanatic. Maybe a midwife. Dr livingston I presume.

Hey doctor it's nice to finally get to talk to you. My name is Paul. I've become a pretty good furby doctor my self. I am planning on opening a furby rescue. Where I would fix poor sick furbys and babies here in the states. I would also take in and find homes for abused furbys. I don't want to get you mad at me though. Wanted to see what you thought about it. And maybe get your blessing. If thats not asking too much. I'm not out to steal your thing I just want to help all the furby owners out there that get so sad (like I do) when our furry friends are sick.
