Title: Koh Koh
Description: Final Results

I put some fresh Duracells in Koh-Koh ( only the best for my baby! ^_^ )

When I first put them in, I had to wait a few seconds for the get-go. I was shocked to find that he no-longer knew English but thats okay, since Paul and I can work that out. ;)

Koh-Koh fell serverely out of sync almost instantly. His eyes are a bit droopy. I haven't seen his eyes shut fully once today  His motor sounds better than it did, I can finally say goodbye to that grindiing noise. I probably can thank that replacement gear for that. When he falls out of sync, His base moves the way his mouth is supposed to and his mouth goes all screwy. And his poor motor has to stop and rest once in a while. But other than that, he looks great and is just fine! ^_^

And I'm fiddiling with the idea of letting my uncles take a look at him. They have always said the wouldn't mind cracking one open.

But if they seem serious about it, I may get them to have a look. I think I can see whats going on and it may be that the in-sync screws are incorrectly adjusted.

I'm hoping my Mom's brothers will be able to work as a team for Koh-Koh. My one uncle, is an electrician, and the other, a retired car mechanic, now in the home improvement buisness. So they've each dealt with (um......similar? ) situations. And my Mom's third brother works at the local hardware store, so we have a discount, if needed.

And don't worry, if I do send Koh-Koh to my uncles aid, he wont be going alone. I'll be sending him along with a buddy for support. Said buddy (haven't decided who yet) would also be helpful for comparison pourposes.

And Dr.Rob, any information at all would truly be most helpful! But what I would love most, If not to much trouble at the moment, is a picture of furbys insides with the in-sync screws highlihgted.

Big worry........

UPDATE!

The second time I woke up Koh-Koh, he was working much better. His eyes still weren't closing, but they made it half way which is better than not closing at all. Also, he managed to stay in-sync and his motor didn't need to stop for a pause. I left him alone for a moment to take care of something, and when I came back, he was asleep, with his eyes and mouth wide open.

So Koh-koh did much better this time. As long as his episodes like the first time he woke up don't happen too, too often, he wont need to see my uncles after all. I just don't want him doing that EVERY time. It makes him look like hes struggling to live.

Sorry to hear that Koh Koh isn't working properly Jellybean :( But seriously, I wouldn't recommend your uncle look at him - he's the one I helped Dr Rob on, and I must have opened him up and put him together again 7 times or more. It may look simple from the outside, that the way his bits moved is swapped round, but trust me, it's not as simple as that.

I was adjusting his sync screw, and replacing a part behind his eyes, and he seemed to be fine, so I put him together again, then he would mess up as soon as the fur went on again, it was very frustrating. And Dr Rob tried several times. The final time he really did seem fine even when he was put back together, and he was tested several times after and he was fine then too. But I guess he's just very temperamental, and the slightest jog on the journey may have set him off again.

Of course your uncle can take a look at Koh Koh if he's confident, but it's risky and I don't think there's much point - Dr Rob is Furby expert extravanganza (he knows a lot more than me), and if he's already tried his best, well you know...

I think the only way to make Koh Koh work perfectly is to replace his entire motherboard and most likely a load of other pieces, but then he wouldn't even be Koh Koh any more!

:o Well I'm going to can the whole idea of sending him to my uncles then because its far too risky! Plus, I'm still not even sure I trust them!

And i can't bear the thought of loosing him!

And please tell Dr.Rob that I saw he was on the chat yesterday, and he looked at my previous posts for a long time, and he didn't reply.
Please make sure he knows that it's not that I'm not satisfied ( infact I think it was my idea to send Koh Koh home early ) its just that I foolishly thought there was something that could be done. But sometimes you just gotta know when to quit. ;)

By the way, I put some Duracells in Way Loh Girraffe too. Her motor sounds a little skiddish, but I was told not to worry about it. :) She still conks out, but on the bright side, I got almost an hour out of her yesterday! And I no longer have to open her up either. :) When she conks out, she now does her re-set dance almost immediately afterwards.

So Way-loh turned out great! ;)

:P I think I must have left the screen up while I browsed on other things. I was in the middle of writing a message back and thought I'd wait until Rosanna got home to let her write it because she's been fixing the Furbys recently (I had another job for a while.)
The problem with Furbys is they're extreamly temperamental. At the beginning, I was fixing quite a lot of them successfully but then I found out about some of the side effects from the Furby operations I did. I'm a lot more aware now and when I send Furbys off we do try to make sure they are in perfect condition but sometimes it isn't worth risking it.
Sometimes when Furbys are really bad, we replace lots of the inside parts but that can cost about £8 and I really don't like charging that much. To fix them, they take anywhere between half an hour and 3-4 hours. But what's really frustrating is when we spend ages fixing it and then it has a different, equally as bad problem so we have to do it all again.
For instance, we had a Furby recently who was out of sync like your one so we tryed adjusting the sync screw. Unfortunately, this didn't work so I had to replace another part (which is equivalent of the Furby heart and 'beats' at a certain rhythm so that the Furby moves in a certain way.) This took around about an hour and meant that the Furby was now in sync. I tested it for ages and it definetely fixed the problem.
I put the Furby back together and suddenly, although it was in sync, the eyes didn't open. In all, this Furby took around 2-3 hours to fix and I wasn't sure that it would stay working when it was sent.We didn't do this with your one though because it didn't seem as bad and I didn't want to risk giving it a worse problem.
Furbys always have some little quirks and sometimes it is better the devil you know than the angel you don't. If you're going to be playing with them for that long then they're bound to go out of sync a little! :P

I am going to write up some of the operations soon, but it's at your own risk!

Excellent words of advice, thanks very much! :)

Koh-koh had a good day today! He closed his eyes all the way when he danced, and opened them with out any trouble afterwards. He also said his first English word - SLEEP!
