Title: The Failure of Reconstruction

Does anybody knows why the South's Reconstruction was a failure?[FONT=Arial][SIZE=1]

Well, probably because the south really did not have a say in its own reconstruction for about 10 years. MOst of the control was given to North military, carpetbagging swindlers, and the great success during the war of the North (better off industrially during war rather than before). It would be hard for any part of the country to come back after a "scorched earth" and "total war" ridden land in the shadow of the economically superior north.
