I have two essay questions that need to be done, however I do not fully understand one of them. Help on it would be grand.

Q.--What were the major advantages and disadvantages of the British and the colonists, respectively, as the American Revolutionary War began? What would Britain have to do to win? What would the colonists have to do to win?

My understanding of this is slim to none. I have a feeling the answer is not at all complicating, but nonetheless help would be much appreciated.

Think about the situations the colonists and British were in - what are the consequences of the war being fought on American soil? What sorts of resources did each side have? What was the caliber of leadership available to each side?

The last two questions should be easy... just think about it. What constitutes victory for each side?

Probably the most important thing to focus on is the fact that the war was being fought in North America, as opposed to being fought in Europe or overseas somewhere. This has enormous implications for the advantages and disadvantages for both sides, but for the colonists in particular.
