Anyway be sure to mention Washington's opposition to parties, and explain why they emerged anyway. Also, take note of what kind of people were in each party and relate that to being the root of what each party's platform was (anti-Federalists were agrarian, etc. [I think. You get the idea.]).

This isn't terribly difficult - I know that the book covers how tensions between the faction backing Adams, Hamilton, et cetera and the faction backing Jefferson each developed into separate parties.
