How in what ways does thomas Jefferson radically change the power of the executive branch in the federal government through his strict and loose interpretations of the constitution?
P.S. this is a free response essay, i need a thesis and topic to get going. thank you so much to any1 who can help me.

If it's free response, then to write a decent essay you'll have to know quite a bit about Jefferson's views of the Constitution. Try reading the chapters or doing some internet research - this should be an easy topic to find some good information for. Then, once you know a little bit, look at the question again and form a thesis you can support. It all starts with understanding the topic.

Thomas Jefferson did one very significant thing that really brought up a lot of questions over what the power of the President was.

And, to provide a more modern example:President Bush's warrantless wiretapping programs that we've been hearing a lot of brouhaha about lately is another good example of a "loose" interpretation of the constitution. Nowhere in the Constitution is the executive branch explicitly given permission to do what amounts to a search without a warrant; however, there might be some leeway for the executive if it relates to foreign policy, which the administration claims that it does. Do the immediate needs of fighting terrorism override the civil liberty concerns encoded in the Bill of Rights? A strict reading of the Constitution and the concept of separation of powers says no. But then again, look at what Jefferson's somewhat out-of-bounds actions brought us.

(I hope that I have done a decent job of leaving my personal opinions out of this.)

sorry
but i got lost one the last reply
hockey let me help u out
this is how i tell em apart
strict would be the literal meaning of the constitution
so the US bank as proposed ny hamilton would be rejected by jefferson cause its not in the constitution
jeferson believed that if u gave congress the right to do something like taxes nd tariffs at lets say 1% whats to stop them from raising it to 5 or 10%?
he was a cautious man looking out for the states each in general
as for hamilton nd his loose interpretation
he would argue that it benefits the country as a whole
nd should only be used, the US bank, if its proper nd of necesity
opposite views
like today modern day
the constitution is loosely read
i dont know if it helped u i kinda had trouble explaining it
