I need to know where to find things for a project in my A.P. U.S. History class.
I've been searching for hours and haven't found anything. The project for this class requires making a map showing the battles of the war of 1812. All I need is some simple map that I can trace pretty easily. Maybe some teacher site that would have this?
Also I need any new invention or product marketed anywhere between 1800-1815ish.
If you happen to know where I could find any of these things, please post a link or something.
Thanks

390. Eli Whitney: cotton gin (short for "engine") 1798 - He developed the cotton gin, a machine which could separate cotton form its seeds. This invention made cotton a profitable crop of great value to the Southern economy. It also reinforced the importance of slavery in the economy of the South.
391. Interchangeable parts 1799-1800 - Eli Whitney developed a manufacturing system which uses standardized parts which are all identical and thus, interchangeable. Before this, each part of a given device had been designed only for that one device; if a single piece of the device broke, it was difficult or impossible to replace. With standardized parts, it was easy to get a replacement part from the manufacturer. Whitney first put used standardized parts to make muskets for the U.S. government. |
From notecards on apstudent.com, it's the closest to that time period.
That's another good site. They have a bunch of notecards with pretty thurough info, but apnotes is from the book, organized by sections and summed up into a paragraph or two. What I do is use the book first, apnotes, then apstudent. :D
Map:
http://encarta.msn.com/media_461518110/Bat...ar_of_1812.html(It's not great, but if you can get a blank map of the US then you can just approximate the locations of those battles on it.)
Inventions:
http://www.krysstal.com/inventions_11.htmlA hint for future searches: Google is your friend. For the first link, I typed "battles of 1812 map" and for the second I typed "inventions 1800 1815" - the whole process took me around a minute.
Also, from now on you only need to make one post about the topic. I have merged the two threads into the proper forum.
