Hey-
My teacher gave us 5 free response questions and i'm having trouble finding info on a few of them...if somebody could help explain them and where i can find info it would be very much appreciated...

"How do you explain the fact that 15 months elapsed after the outbreak of fighting before the 'Declaration of Independence' was adopted?"

"Was the 'Critical Period' (1783-1787) really that critical? Discuss."

"What was the effect in the colonies of the lax enforcement of British commercial regulations?"

please help... :)

1. I'm not 100% sure for this one, but I figure it might have something to do with the fact that the colonies might not have been completely consolidated in their effort to band together and face the British enemy together. Once they had done well enough at Lexington and Concord, Ticonderoga, Bunker Hill and other early battles, they might have had more support for their cause. Again, I'm not sure on this, but it's a possibility.

2. Well, think about what was going on at that point in time - the colonies weren't under the Constitution yet, so there was all sorts of craziness going on with deciding how the country was going to be run. Look up what was going on under the Articles of Confederation and go from there.

3. Think about this - if there was a rule on the forum that you could never use emoticons but I never enforced it, you'd be OK even though both previous posts broke the rules. However, if then suddenly I say "Well, you used two emoticons, looks like you're getting banned" you'd probably be pretty ticked off. Same sort of deal, only on a much larger scale.
