I was wondering if anyone could help me answer these two questions from chapter 4. Any help would be awesome.

Why did Thomas Jefferson say that the town meeting was, “the best school of political liberty the world ever saw?”

How did the witchcraft hysteria of the 1680s and 1690s result from the expectations of the first generation and the reality of the current generation?

Well, I'm not going to just answer the questions for you, but here's something to get you started.

Remember that Thomas Jefferson believed strongly in the republican form of government, which basically means that he is a staunch supporter of personal liberty and the idea of democratic rule by the people, as opposed to rule by the elite.

As for the witchcraft bit, that's not really something I know a whole lot about. Perhaps someone else would be kind enough to share their thoughts on this...?
