“And do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded wife?”

Charlie grinned and replied “I do”.

“Do you promise to love and honour her…” Sawyer’s mind began to wander as he sat in Eko’s church, watching him marry two of the island inhabitants. It had been 4 years now since the crash, and almost everyone had a partner. In fact, Eko had performed some sort of religious marrying ceremony on most of the couples now: he’d married Claire and Charlie, Hurley and Libby and he’s performed vow renewals for Jin and Sun and Rose and Bernard. It seemed the only ones left were Jose and Ana and Sawyer and Kate.

Sawyer placed his hand on Kate’s knee and gently squeezed, distracting her from the ceremony. She wriggled and pushed his hand off. “Sawyer! Not here!” she grinned at him.

Seeing he was succeeding in his plan to distract her, he put his hand back on her knee and whispered in her ear. “Come on Freckles! You can’t actually be enjoying this?!”

Kate put her hand on top of his, ensuring he didn’t try and move it and distract her further. “Actually yes! I like watching people getting married. I might never have one of my own…” she whispered, continuing to watch Charlie, Claire and Eko.

“What do you mean ‘you’ll never have one’?! Why the hell not? Heck, I’d marry you tomorrow if that’s what you wanted!” Sawyer’s “whispering” was getting louder, loud to the point that Rose turned round and told him to be quiet.

Kate looked at him. “Are you serious?”

“Why the hell not? If…” He was distracted by the clapping of hands as Claire and Charlie’s wedding ceremony came to an end.

“Can we talk about this later?” Kate said, making it more of a statement than a question. Sawyer just looked at her as she turned her attention to the happy couple as the walked down the aisle. Everyone rose as they left the church and headed towards the reception; which was a large campfire that Sayid had built, next to the sea. As they left, Kate took Sawyer’s hand, sensing somehow that she’d hurt him. “You OK?”

“Yeah, I’m good. Why wouldn’t I be?”

“No reason”. Kate smiled and moved in against Sawyer as he walked, and he instinctively put his arm around her.

“Weddings bring out the worst in you, Freckles.”

“Hey!” Kate smiled, gently hitting him on the chest. Sawyer chuckled, pulling her in closer, and she put her arm round his waist in response.

The rest of the evening was spent with everyone round the campfire, sitting and talking. Occasionally someone would provide some form of entertainment; Hurley, for example, decided to perform a karaoke version of practically every song he knew (which wasn’t many). He was joined by Locke for his version of “You All Everybody”, and this pleased Charlie immensely. Hurley told him to consider it his wedding gift. Little Aaron wasn’t quite so little anymore – at nearly four years old he was running round and generally causing chaos. He was joined by Sun and Jin’s little boy Li who was now nearly 3. As it was Claire’s wedding day, Sun offered to take Aaron of her hands and was currently chasing the two children in an attempt to remove particularly sharp stick they had managed to find. Although it was a celebration, they had to use the little alcohol they had sparingly, especially as Jose insisted on keeping it for his medical supplies. As the evening drew in, people began to gather round the campfire and sit and chat. Sun went to put the children to bed who were, by now, exhausted. Sawyer had gone to help find some more firewood with Jin, and when he returned, Kate was nowhere to be seen.

“Hey, Jacko! You seen Kate?” he yelled at the doctor as he dropped the logs near the campfire. Jose, who was deep in conversation with Ana Lucia, turned round to talk to Sawyer.

“Er… yeah… I think she went that way” he said, pointing further down the beach. Sawyer sighed and made his way across the sand, away from the party. It was dusk now, and the sky had turned a beautiful shade of orange. Looking up from the floor in front of him he saw a figure sitting on the sand in the distance. He quickened his pace to a gentle jog and flopped down beside her, slightly out of breath.

“What you doing out here Freckles?” he asked, lying on the sand to catch his breath. Kate was sitting with her knees bent and was tipping sand on top of them.

“Nothing. I just thought it’d be nice to watch the sunset here.”

“And you didn’t invite me?! I’m offended!” Sawyer said jokingly, putting his arms above his head and resting his head on them. Kate stopped pouring sand on herself, looked at him and grinned.

“I didn’t invite you because you weren’t there! Besides, I knew you’d find me.” She went back to tipping sand on herself. Sawyer propped himself up on his elbows.

“Oh did you now? Maybe next time I won’t bother…” he grinned. Kate smiled.

“Yes you will.”

Sawyer sighed. “Ah you know me too well, girl.” He flopped back on the sand, closing his eyes momentarily. Kate looked at him and smiled. They sat in silence for a while, the only noise being the sand pouring over Kate’s knees. After a while, Sawyer sat up and pulled something out of his pocket. It was a small bottle of alcohol, the ones from the plane. He nudged Kate and held one out to him.
“Where did you get that?!” she said surprised. She took it from him and examined it.

“Where do you think?! I stole it” Sawyer said proudly.

“But this is Jose’s… he keeps it in case of emergencies… he’s had it since the crash…”

“Exactly, so I figure, as it’s a wedding, we should be celebrating.” He reasoned. “Besides, only Jose could make something like this last for four years in case of ‘emergencies’”. Kate chuckled and opened the bottle. She took a sip, then raised it as if to make a toast. “Hey Freckles, do you remember the last time we sat like this with these bottles?”

Kate smiled as she remembered their game. “Yeah”. She took another sip and raised her glass, as if she were making a toast. “To drinking games!”

Sawyer chuckled and clinked his bottle against hers. “To alcohol” he drawled. Kate giggled. She dropped her bottle, holding it in her fingertips. She looked at Sawyer, who was still drinking, and raised her bottle for another toast.

“To us.”

Sawyer looked at her and paused for a while, before raising his glass again. “To us.”

Kate smiled at him and lay back on the sand. Sawyer did the same, pulling Kate in close to him. Kate rested her head on his chest, and he played with her hair, twirling it in his fingers. She lay there, content, for quite a while before she asked him something that had been playing on her mind since earlier that day.

“Sawyer?”

“Mmm?”

“Did you mean it?”

“Did I mean what?”

“What you said earlier… about marrying me?” There was a short pause before Sawyer raised his head and answered.

“Yeah Freckles. I meant it.”
Kate smiled to herself. “Ok… when?”
Sawyer smiled. “I’ll marry you tomorrow if you want. Might not be enough notice for Eko though. And Sayid as well. Who knows how long it takes to build those fires.” Kate smiled at his attempt to amuse her.

“I don’t want you to marry me tomorrow. Besides that wasn’t much of a proposal. And frankly, from you, I expected a better one.” Kate smiled, knowing this would annoy him.

“Oh really? Well then it’s a good thing I don’t have a ring on me ‘cause that sure as hell weren’t a proposal sweetheart. Trust me, when I propose, you won’t forget it.

Kate grinned. “I’m sure I won’t. Wanna tell me when you’re gonna do it?”

“Well it wouldn’t be a surprise then would it?! I’ll do it when you’re least expecting, and it’ll be the best thing you’ve ever seen.”

Kate laughed. “Wow, you’re setting yourself up for something quite big here Sawyer. You sure you can pull it off?”

“Freckles, just trust me. Now, you wanna go back? It’s kinda dark…”

“Kate sat up and looked at him. “Yeah OK.” She stood up, holding out a hand to help him up. “Race ya?” she challenged, with an excited gleam in her eye.

Sawyer looked at her questioningly. “You’re on!” he said, dashing off in front of her. Kate smiled and ran after him, quickly catching him up, and swiftly overtaking him.

It was now over a month since Charlie and Claire’s wedding, and life had quickly returned to normal on the island. Kate was alone in her hut, waiting for Sawyer to return. All the men had been roped in to help Jose build his doctor’s surgery. He had a hut, but decided he was uncomfortable making house calls all the time and wanted a workplace of his very own. Everyone had huts now – after realising they weren’t going to be rescued any time soon, they had decided to set up home on the island.

The door opened and Sawyer came in, mumbling something about a “Jose-ass doctor”, shirtless and dripping with sweat. The last few days on the island had been exceptionally hot, so most people resigned themselves to lounging around and taking it easy. Everyone except Jose’s crew of merry workers – he had insisted that the quicker they got the surgery finished, the better it would be for everyone. Sawyer of course, had other ideas and spent his time complaining and making smart remarks while building the new hut.

Kate jumped when Sawyer came in (mostly because he flung the door open in a rage). Sawyer saw this, and wiping sweat off his brow, asked how she was.

“You OK Freckles? Made you jump didn’t I?” he grinned. Kate wasn’t really listening. In fact, her mind was miles away.

“What? Oh, yeah.” Sawyer walked over to the towels draped over a makeshift chair and picked one up.

“OK, well, I’m gonna go have a wash, then I want you to get ready to come for a walk with me. I might be a while cleaning up though - but then that’s what you get when you’re forced to work in the middle of a baking hot day building a hut someone doesn’t really need -”

“Sawyer-”

“I mean, why does he need another hut again? So he doesn’t have to traipse across the beach visiting people - “

“Sawyer - “

“ - who are ill. Well I’ll tell you something Freckles, he’s making me ill building - “

“Sawyer!” she yelled, finally grabbing his attention.

“What?” he replied, not looking at her, rummaging around in a pile of clothes.

“Sawyer… I’m… I’m pregnant.” Sawyer stopped what he was doing and looked at her. Their eyes met for a second, then Kate looked away from him at the floor. He sat in the chair and was silent for a while. To Kate it seemed like an eternity.

“How long have you known?” he finally asked.

“I found out yesterday. Jose says I’m probably a couple of months gone.”

“You went to Jose?! Before saying something to me?!” Kate could see the rage building inside of him.

“I had to Sawyer, he’s the doctor.” She said defensively, walking over to the opposite side of the room where the “bed” was, and making it. “He had a test leftover for some reason, and he gave it to me. He asked me some questions - “

“What kind of questions?”

Kate sighed. “Pregnancy related questions Sawyer.” They were both silent for a while. The only noise was the ruffling of sheets as Kate made the bed. Sawyer got up from his seat and walked over to her. He wrapped his arms round her waist and rested his head on her shoulders. Kate grinned, but didn’t stop what she was doing.

“So, we’re having a baby.” he whispered in her ear, letting the fact sink into his mind. “Sure it’s mine, Freckles?” he grinned. Kate turned round, with a mock expression of shock on her face. She wrapped her arms up around his neck.

“Of course it’s yours. To be honest, I’m surprised this hasn’t happened earlier. I mean, it’s been nearly 4 years. I guess we’ve just been lucky.”

“I guess so.” Sawyer kissed her, but Kate broke away just before he got too enthusiastic. She grinned at him.

“You realise that now, we have no need for luck… it doesn’t matter how often we do it now… won’t change anything..” Still grinning, she took his hand and began walking backwards to the bed.

“I think I like what you’re saying Freckles.” he smiled, taking his belt off.

“What about that walk you wanted to go on?” Kate was now sitting on the bed.

“That can wait.” he grinned.

I'm loving this, can't believe Kate's pregnant! You write both of them beautifully, really, this is an amazing story and can't wait to see where it's going!

Although it's a bit distracting reading Jose instead of J.ack here in the fanfics! Mods, maybe turn it off in the fanfiction section? ;)

xShimmyx - July 29, 2006 07:23 PM (GMT)
i really like this, its quite amazing :]
cant wait to see where this goes!

JakieMC - August 1, 2006 06:28 PM (GMT)
Wow I'd never noticed that they change J.ack to Jose! Anyway, I've written some more. upadtes could start coming thick and fast, because i basically have nothing else to do.

When he opened his eyes, it was dusk. What was left of the light was streaming in through the windows, bringing a little light to the dark hut the couple called home. Sawyer’s eyes roamed the room as he began to wake up – to the left of him was the chair with all the clothes on it and a window. He turned his head, blinking his eys as they met the light. On his right was another window (through which the dusky sunlight was streaming), another pile of clothes, and Kate. Her head was resting on his chest, her arm draped over his stomach. She was still sleeping silently, and Sawyer listened to her gentle breathing. He didn’t like to admit it, but he loved times like these; times when he could just watch her, listen to her. He pulled her closer into him, and she shuffled closer to him, still deep in sleep. He kissed the top of her head and lay there in the peacefulness of the hut, with the only woman he’d ever loved. He thought about the proposal he had planned for her. He was actually going to do it earlier that afternoon, but they had gotten distracted. Then he remembered; remembered the biggest distraction of all. He remembered what Kate had told him, something that would undeniably change his life forever, but most definitely for the better. Kate was pregnant, she was carrying his child. Never in a million had he thought his life would turn out like this. Never had he ever thought he’d have woman he loved, a child, a family. Then the fear hit him for the first time: What if I’m a bad father? What if I don’t know what to do? Sawyer had never seen himself as a “family man”. He’d never had a family of his own, he had no idea what to do. Just as these fears began to overtake his thoughts completely, Kate stirred.

“Hey” she said sleepily, looking up at him and smiling.

Sawyer looked down at her and smiled back “Hey.” Kate moved her hand off Sawyer’s stomach and rubbed her eyes, then moved her hand back to his stomach, lightly tracing circles around his belly-button.

“Any idea what time it is?”

“No idea Freckles, not exactly like we have many clocks round here. But I reckon it’s evening some time. Look at the light.” Kate lifted her head off his chest and looked at the window over her shoulder, squinting at the light. She groaned slightly and slumped back on his chest.

“Not much of a morning person are you Freckles?”

Kate grinned. “Guess not. Even though it’s not morning.”

“You know what I mean.” They lay in silence, Kate tracing patterns on Sawyer’s stomach, Sawyer playing with her hair.

“You know what I miss?” Kate eventually said.

“Can’t be me ‘cause I’m right here” Sawyer smirked.

Kate smiled. “Surprisingly, no it’s not you. I was actually going to say that I miss a bed.”

“A bed? Why? What’s wrong with this?”

“Sawyer, airplane seats don’t exactly compare to a mattress. I’d just really like to sleep in a big bed, with big pillows and a big duvet… just for one night. That’s what I’d like.”

“Freckles, if we ever get off this god forsaken island, I promise you, I will get you a bed somehow.”

“I’ll hold you to that.”

“Course if we never get off the island, you’ll just have to live with the airplane seats I so kindly provided for you when we shacked up. You’re lucky I don’t mind sharing really aren’t ya?”

“You’re such a gentleman, Sawyer”.

Sawyer chuckled. “You wouldn’t want it any other way, sweetheart.” It was true, Kate couldn’t imagine Sawyer being any other way than he was. Sure he was an ass sometimes, but he was also sweet, caring and protective. He would watch over her and make sure she was OK. He would keep her from danger, but he still let her be herself and make her own decisions. In a word, she found him perfect. He was a perfect partner, he’d be a perfect husband, a perfect father… Then she remembered. She remembered what she’d told him earlier, how important it was for them, how it would change their lives.

“Sawyer… are you ok about…”

“About what, Freckles?”

“About… you know… what I told you earlier..”

Sawyer was silent for a second. “Yeah. I’m OK. I mean, I never really imagined I’d be a father, and I’m scared as hell, but..”

“But what?”

“But… I guess now it’s happening… I guess there’s no-one else I could ever imagine having my child. Or wanting anyone else to for that matter.”

Kate smiled and leant up and kissed his cheek. He’d opened up to her. It was a rare moment – Sawyer rarely exposed his feelings and it seemed she was the only one he felt comfortable doing it with.

“I’m scared too. But I know we can do it. And I know we’ll be good at it.”

“Damn right we will be. Hell, it’s father’s a con man and it’s mother’s a fugitive on the run. This kid’s gonna be so streetwise this island won’t know what hit ‘em.” Kate giggled, then kissed him.

“You wanna take that walk now?” she asked.

Sawyer stretched his arms above his head. He had to think quickly. He’d asked her on the walk earlier because that was when he had his proposal planned. He needed to know if what he had planned would still work. “Sure. But I wanna go wash up first.”

“Since when have you cared about being clean?!”

“Since always! But if you’d rather be associated with a smelly neanderthal who doesn’t know how to use soap, that’s fine by me…”

“You can go wash Sawyer. I’ll wait here for you. Just don’t be long.”

Sawyer clambered out of bed and pulled on some jeans. Kate sat up and pulled the sheet around her, watching him. “What, you scared of being all alone in this big ol’ hut of ours Freckles?” Sawyer grinned at her.

Kate frowned. “Get out of here you!” she said, throwing a shirt at him as he left the hut. “And can you bring back some mango for us please?” she yelled as he shut the door.

Sawyer popped his head round the door and grinned. “Sure thing, sweetcheeks.”

Sawyer pulled the shirt over his head and walked over to Sayid’s tent. He peered in, but it was empty. “Dammit” he muttered under his breath.

“Looking for something?” Sawyer turned round as he heard the voice behind him. It was Sayid, carrying a pile of wood for the campfire.

“Yeah actually; you.”

“Really? What can I do for you this time?” he questioned, dropping the wood on the floor near Sawyer’s feet.

“Well, I know I asked you to prepare the stuff I asked for earlier for that time, but me and Kate, we got.. well we got distracted…”

Sayid raised an eyebrow. “Go on.”

“So yeah, I didn’t get a chance to actually do what I’d planned at the time I’d originally planned. So I was just wondering whether everything was still there, waiting.”

Sayid smiled and leaned crossed his arms. “Yes Sawyer, everything should still be there. Of course, certain things may have to be re-lit and prepared, but it wouldn’t take long. When would you like it ready for?”

“Tonight.”

“Tonight?! Sawyer, I may be a fast worker, but I could not possibly have it ready again for tonight.”

Sawyer sighed. Under his breath he said “Sayid, please. I’ll give you whatever you want.”

Sayid chuckled. “Sawyer, you have nothing I want.”

Sawyer was beginning to get agitated. “Well then consider it an I.O.U!”

Sayid smiled. After a pause, he said “OK Sawyer. I will prepare your little setting for you again. But you owe me something, and when I want it, you have to give it to me. No questions asked. Deal?” He held out his hand. Sawyer looked at it for a second, and then put his palm in Sayid’s and shook it.

“Deal.”

“Good. Now I can have everything ready in about 20 minutes. I’ll see you both there.” Sayid turned and walked away from Sawyer.

“20 minutes?” You said it would take ages!” He called after him.

Sayid turned round and yelled back. “I may have exaggerated slightly.” He grinned.

“Son of a bitch…” Sawyer muttered under his breath as he walked over to where the supplies were and took two mangoes.

That was so good! I can't wait to see what's going to happen, how he's going to propose! Is he going to have a ring? *giggle*

Fluff!

JakieMC - August 7, 2006 03:26 PM (GMT)
Thanks guys! I have another update. I don't like this chapter though, I jsut couldn't find the right words. Ah well.

When Sawyer returned to the hut, Kate was tidying up the clothes scattered on the floor. Sawyer threw the mangoes down onto the bed.

“Two mangoes, as requested.”

Kate turned round, a pile of clothes still in her arms. She put the pile down in a corner. The hut was still messy, but at least it was “organised mess” as Kate liked to say. She picked the mangoes up and walked past Sawyer to the small table they had created, kisisng him on the cheek as she went past.

“Thanks.” She then proceeded to slice the mangoes, cutting them neatly into small cubes. Sawyer watched her, taking such care over something so trivial. He walked up behind her and put his arms round her waist, resting his head on her shoulder. Kate smiled.

“Hungry?”

“Not particularly. We can eat it when we get back.”

Kate ate a piece of mango, covered the rest up in an attempt to keep it fresh and turned round to face Sawyer. She looked up at him and smiled.

“I’ve never seen you so eager to go walking Sawyer.”

“It’s a new hobby. Started this morning”. Sawyer grinned at her. Kate giggled and kissed him.

“Come on then.” She said, breaking away. “Do you have a route planned?” Kate asked, not expecting an answer.

“Matter of fact I do.” Sawyer took her hand and led her out of the hut. “This way, sweetcheeks.” Sawyer smiled, but inside he was terrified of what he was about to do. He hoped everything was ready and that he hadn’t left too early.

“Sawyer! Where are we going?!” Kate asked as Sawyer gently pushed her forward, his hand covering her eyes.

“When we get there, I’ll let you know! Watch out for the tree stump, right in front of you.”

Kate took an oversized step over the stump and Sawyer chuckled. He was actually surprised that Kate had let him lead her all this way, even more so that she’d let him do it with her blindfolded.

“Nearly there Freckles!” Sawyer was excited but scared. He didn’t know why he was so scared – this was Kate, it should be easy. He came to the conclusion that he was more scared that the proposal wouldn’t be fancy enough or even romantic enough for her. He wasn’t entirely sure what she liked in that department, so he’d had to conjure all this up by himself.

“OK.” He said, pushing aside the vines that blocked the pathway. “We’re here.” He took his hand off Kate’s eyes and she blinked as she became accustomed to the light. They were at the waterfall. There was a pathway lined with mini fires to create an atmospheric light. The pathway led to the rocks next to the waterfall. There was the cushions and blankets Sayid had used when he had done something similar to this for Shannon on the rocks to make it comfy, and on the surrounding rocks were more mini fires, and in the centre was a big fire. The sun was setting, leaving the sky orange and creating the perfect light and atmosphere. In the background was the gentle sound of the waterfall. Kate stared at it all, amazed.

“Sawyer.. what is all this?!”

“Do you like it?” he asked, slightly scared.

“I love it!”

Sawyer sighed with relief. “I had to make do with what we had here…”

Kate just smiled, still taking it all in. He took her hand and led her along the path. When they got to the rocks, he shuffled the pillows around slightly, attempting to make it comfier. “After you.” He said, signalling to the pillows.

“Why thank you.” Kate grinned, still amazed at it all and looking round. “Sawyer this is amazing. When did you plan this? Why did you plan this more importantly?”

Sawyer took a deep breath and patted his pocket – without Kate seeing – checking that what he needed was still there. Eventually, he sat down.

“Freckles..” this was harder than he thought. He hadn’t planned what he would say, assuming the words would come naturally.

Kate turned and looked at him. “Yeah?” she smiled at him. Sawyer took another breath and took her hand. He wasn’t good at all this romance stuff. Not when it was for real.

“Kate.. I..” he looked down at the floor, searching for words.

Kate could see him struggling for words, something unusual for Sawyer. “Come on Sawyer, you know you can tell me.” she said reassuringly. Sawyer looked up at her. She was smiling.

“Kate…I’m not very good at this, but there’s something I’ve always wanted to tell you, and I figure now would be the time to do it.”

“OK.”

“OK.” He paused. “Despite everything we’ve been through…over the past four years.. I can honestly say that they’ve been the best years of my life. We’ve.. had our ups and downs.. but Freckles.. there’s no-one else in the world who has ever made me feel the way you do. You make me feel.. beyond happy, you make me laugh, hell sometimes you infuriate me, but you’re the best thing that’s ever.. that’s ever happened to me… and I can’t imagine spending my life with anyone else… And now that we’ve got a kid on the way and with everything else.. now just feels.. it just feels right. Freckles I don’t know what the hell I’m doing here, but.. I love you and…” he took his hand away from Kate’s and put it in his pocket. From it he produced a box and opened it. There was a silver ring inside, with a small diamond. Kate’s face was streaming with tears, but she was smiling from ear to ear.

“… and assuming you don’t mind a partially used, ring… Freckles… will you marry me?”

Kate smiled at him and threw her arms round his neck, holding him tight. Sawyer was a little taken aback by he reaction, but hugged her back nonetheless.

“Is that a yes then?” he aked shyly.

Kate broke away from him and wiped her eyes, still smiling. “Of course it is!” Sawyer smiled back at her and picked the ring up. He gently slid it onto her finger and chuckled.

“Well waddya know? Perfect fit.” Sawyer looked at Kate, who was admiring the ring. Kate didn’t know what to say to him – she was actually lost for words. She looked up at him, wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. Pulling back, arms still wrapped round him, she said “I love you too Sawyer.” and smiled. Sawyer grinned.

“Gettin’ kinda dark.. wanna go back?”

Kate shook her head. “Nope. Not yet. I like it too much here.”

“Ok then.” He lay back on the cushion, pulling Kate back with him. She snuggled in close to his chest and he wrapped his arm around her. They sat in silence, listening to the waterfall. Kate twirled the ring on her finger.

“Sawyer?”

“Yes?”

“Where did you get this ring?

Sawyer paused for a moment before answering, considering her possible reactions when he told her where he found the ring. Should he lie? Or would that make her hate him? Should he just tell her the truth and hope she doesn’t hate him for that? He sighed.

“I found it. It was in the luggage from the plane. Apparently some guy had the same idea I did but never got round to it. So I took it.” Kate was silent. After a short pause, she looked up at him.

“You’re a dirty thief.” Sawyer looked slightly pissed – he knew he should have lied – and was about to answer her when she continued. “And I love it.” Kate grinned. Sawyer grinned back and kissed her again. For the first time in his life, it seemed he had done something right.

I LOVE IT!
Now, before I get to a review, I've gotta tell you this.;
I just came back from a theatre camp where you can write anything, (as long as it's appropriate) anywhere on the walls. So there was this one girl that, in any empty space she could find wrote, "I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE!
So, your title made me slightly turned up. But reading it, it's really good.
I have three favorite kind of Sawyers, those being,
1.Protective Sawyer
2.The Sawyer you showed me in this last chapter
3.Not stupid Sawyer.
Thank you so much for doing your fan-fic so well!

JakieMC - August 7, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
Aw thank you! I really don't liuke the title - I think it sucks! - but I was listening to the song and I couldn't think of anything else!

Kimmerz - August 8, 2006 01:16 AM (GMT)
that turned out perfect!!!! i love all the dialogue, it's so cute. And four years? good use of a lost number. Poor Sayid, who is he going to marry? So cute nervous Sawyer about proposing to her. Any girl would swoon. the island will never know what hit it! that was so cute!!!

JakieMC - August 8, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
Ooo I didn't even realise I'd used a Lost number... They've subconsciously brainwashed me!

Update time! It's only short...

They had returned to their hut later than originally intended – it was pitch black walking back through the jungle, and Kate had to endure Sawyer’s attempts to scare her by jumping out from behind trees and hiding from her. None of the attempts were successful.

When they awoke the next morning, it was due to some commotion outside. Kate pushed him out of bed to go and see what was going on.

“Why do I have to go?” he questioned grumpily, pulling on some jeans and a shirt.

“Because I’m tired. And pregnant.”

Sawyer laughed. “You ain’t that pregnant yet Freckles! That’s gonna be your excuse for everything now, ain’t it?”

Kate rolled over. “You bet. Now go see what’s happening.” Sawyer walked over to the door and leaned against the frame, gazing out over the crowd of people gathered outside their hut. Jack was standing on some large rock, trying to get his audience to be quiet.

“Looks like ol’ Jacko’s trying to make some kind of speech…”

“Does it look important?”

“Well looks like everyone’s out there… not paying much attention though…”

Kate groaned and slid out of bed. She put some clothes on and stood next to Sawyer at the doorframe, standing on tiptoes to try and get a better view.

“OK everyone, just quiet down. Ana and I have an announcement to make.” Jack yelled across the group.

“What, you finally got that scowl off her face long enough to make a Doc Jr.?” Sawyer remarked, grinning. Kate elbowed him in the ribs.

“Sawyer! Sssh!”

Jack sighed, shooting Sawyer an evil glare before he continued. “As I was saying, Ana and I have an announcement.” He paused. “We’re getting married!” A round of applause and shouts of “Congratulations!” flew out from the crowd.

“Thank you, thanks.” Jack said, trying to quieten everyone again. “We’ve decided we want to do it in a couple of months, giving Eko time to repair the church” – the church had been damaged in a bad storm a few nights before – “And Sayid time to build a really big celebration fire!” Jack smiled as the group chuckled at his comment.

“Wise-guy…” Sawyer mumbled as he wandered back into the hut, walking away from Jack continuing his speech with invitations and instructions for everyone with regards to his wedding. He stormed round the hut, angrily picking stuff up off the floor and chucking them somewhere in an attempt to tidy up. Kate turned round.

“Hey, what’s with you?” she said gently.

“Nothin’s ‘with me’!” he replied, not looking at her. Kate walked up to him, placed his hands on his shoulders and turned him round to face her

“Sawyer.” She said, raising an eyebrow questioningly. Sawyer looked at her, threw the shirt he was holding into the corner and sat on the bed, shaking his head.

“I don’t believe that guy!” Kate sat down next to him on the bed.

“I know you’re not too fond of Jack, but I can’t possibly see what he’s done to annoy you now?”

“He’s stolen my thunder is what he’s done Freckles!” Kate paused, trying to contain her laughter. Eventually, she couldn’t hold it any longer.

“You are joking, right?” Sawyer looked at her, shocked at her laughter.

“No Freckles, I ain’t joking! It shoulda been us they were clapping for and congratulating, the next few months should have been about us, but now Dr Perfect gets in the limelight again.” Sawyer sighed. Kate shuffled in closer and rested her head on his shoulder.

“It doesn’t matter, Sawyer. Honestly. We’ll just wait a bit longer, that’s all. Besides, by the time the church is fixed and Jack’s wedding’s over, I’m going to have a stomach the size of a hot air balloon, and I don’t want to be fat on my wedding day.” Kate grinned. “And, we’ll still be in the limelight – we have to tell people sometime that we’re having a baby. They’re going to suspect something sooner rather than later…”

Sawyer smiled. Somehow, she had made him feel better, even if she thought his problem was ridiculous. He put an arm round her shoulders and kissed the top of her head.

“So when do you want to tell people? I mean, do you want to gather everyone together and tell them all at once like Jacko-“

“- I think we should just tell a few people.. the news will soon spread. Jack may like to make big fancy announcements, but I don’t.” Sawyer smiled.

“Anyone you want to tell first?”

“I guess Sun… and Claire I guess. Anyone you want to tell?”

“Well I guess if we want the news to travel I should tell Hurley…” Kate giggled.

“When do you want to tell them?”

“Not today… not after Jack’s news. We’ll wait for a bit. That OK?” she asked, standing up.

“Sure… just tell me when.” Sawyer stood up as well.

“I’m gonna go get breakfast. Any requests?” Sawyer took hold of her and kissed her.

“Surprise me.”
