Title: Pheonix Guard Kill Team

zeuspro - July 17, 2007 06:04 PM (GMT)
After The Nemessis Crown Campaign is Over Me and my freinds are going to try playing kill team. As we have plenty of time, we are converting custom Teams. After reading Fulgrim I decided to make the Pheonix Guard, Using Ultramarine Honour Guard as rules, (5 basic honour guard in a kill team Leaves you 10 points under the limit and as they dont have access to the armoury they dont give away any extra bruite squads)

So heres a work in progress of my first two squad members:

The First One is almost finished Painting now:

The Pheonix Guard are described as having golden Halberds, however after doing this one i think it might be a little too much gold so I might change the handle colour, What do you think?

Also the gold is darker in these photo's then in real life (Its not as thick either), although it is quite a dark gold anyway. Maybe if I get time I'll mess around in photoshop with it.

Looks real good maybe a few highlights.
also try a thinned green wash (trust me)followed by burnished gold for the halberds.

Horus Aximand - July 25, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
Horus Aximand's recipe for a nice gold:
Shining gold basecoat
Black ink wash
Layer of Shining Gold
Highlight shinging gold/mithril silver.
IT works!

It's quite an idea you have, but I have no freakin clue who the Phoenix Guard are since I havent read Fulgrim yet :P

As soon as i read the book i knew that the models would be perfect. They are Ultramarine honour Guard. I Removed the axe of ultramar from them at the wrist and replaced them with the wrist and weapon of a grey knight. Reather then file off the ultramarine symbol i found it easyer in most places to use a tiny bit of greenstuff in the gap to make it a flace circle, which can then be decorated etc.

Hopefully ill get an update of the models progress for you all soon.
