Starting to order bits for my pre-heresy Thousand Sons, and I'm unsure about what sort of helmet to use.

A carved down post-heresy rubric helm might work, but I dont want to risk fudging the helmets carving the big fin thing off. Other option would be the chaos warrior pot-helm ish looking thing. Looks good done that way, I've seen it.

Also, question to Doghouse; what helmets are you using for your marines? Looks like resin bits, I'm guessing forgeworld, but praying cheaper than that...

Doghouse is using Mk4 heads and amour of the FW red scorpions, I have seen thousand sons done with warhammer fantasy chaos warrior heads they seem to do the job

Thanks. Yeah, the chaos warrior heads seem to work so I think I'm going with them. Gotta say though, the MK4 helms look pretty nice.

The best thousand sons heads I've seen done come from the Warhammer fantasy battle chaos warriors with trimmed down horns
There are quite a few t-shaped visor heads that scream thousand sons

Thanks for the replies, I wound up scrounging up the money and will be doing most likely a mix of the MK4 and warrior helmets.

Worst thing that happens is I have enough bits left over for when I do round two of these guys. I'm aiming at around 400 points by the end of the school year so I can at least play combat patrol missions with them, so the extra helmets from whatever I don't use will go to that.

Looks like this is going to form up into my first mini-blog once the FW stuff comes in.
