Name:Caeden Arthur Merrell
Nicknames:Cade, Merck.
Family:None.
Age:25
Gender:Male
Species:Human
Sexual Preference:Heterosexual
Avatar: Sting (Gordon Sumner)
Appearance: Reaching a height of just over six foot, he is muscular, yet thin and of average weight class, his long legs and arms making him appear even taller than he really is. His upper arms and chest are well defined from the hard work he's done to make his way from one place to another. He knows that he has to take care of himself, and his body shows it.
He has a round head with a pointed chin and a long, thin nose that hints at the common similarity of aristocracy. His thin lips are often in a closed smile, but occasionally, a grin that shows off a sparkle of white teeth can be seen. His cheeks are prominent, but not overly so, and his jaw is strong, square, rounding out his face. Cade's pale skin rarely holds a tan, but from time to time, he can be seen with a slight bronze glow as a result from prolonged exposure to the sun. He's passed the age of pimples and acne, leaving him with a moderately clear complexion, save for the slight stubble that appears on his chin.
His light green eyes dance with amusement and some hidden secret, their rounded oval shape enhanced by the naturally arched brows, often raised in a look of sheer sarcasm and irony. The hair atop is head is a yellow blonde that he often wears spiked. From time to time, he just lets the longer locks hang down over his forehead, or even hides it all beneath a stylish black, narrowly brimmed hat that he's had for as long as he's been on his own.
Dressing casually, he can most often be seen in dark pants or jeans with sleeveless shirts, the sleeves most often ripped off by Cade himself rather than being bought that way. His shoes are old, worn, but he wouldn't trade them for anything. They just got comfortable, he says, defending their tattered appearance.
Cade has no other body modifications, save for a few scars that he's acquired from one rumble in the street or another. Drunks with knives, he learned, are dangerous and will swing at anything that moves. Thus the reason for the jagged scar along his forearm.
Together, he makes up a slightly intimidating figure, and can certainly play the part well.
Personality:From across the water and the wrong side of the tracks, this man has seen and done it all. His life has weathered him, making him wise beyond his years. Cade never misses an opportunity that can benefit him, but somehow, at the same time, he is compassionate, helping others whenever he can. The situations he finds the most beneficial are when he can help them and gain a little compensation in return. It makes him feel good, maybe even joyful, when someone else has it easier because of him. He smiles when he realizes he's making it better than his parents would have ever planned for him. He might be on his own, but everything he has, he's gotten the hard way, his way...The only way he knows.
Cade isn't easily angered, but that isn't to say that he doesn't have a temper. When he sees someone being picked on or put down, it runs all over him. No one should ever be degraded and Cade makes sure that in his presence, no one ever is. People talking about him, or treating him like a foreign outsider also angers him. He might talk like a Brit and he may be English, but he's human, just like everyone else. He doesn't want to be treated differently, and if he is, he'll definitely speak up about it.
He fears only one thing, and this is becoming like his parents. Cade, though he won't readily admit it, does want a family someday...And he wants to be the father he never had. He'll love his children, protect them, and give all of himself for them...The way a father should be. Almost like his mentor, Dr. Copeland, had become to him.
When in a crowd, Cade can't help but be a little sarcastic and if there's a game or contest or a girl involved, a little competitive. For the most part, he treats people with respect, unless they don't do the same. He is a stand-up guy, but at the same time, a dark boy with a shady, hard-lived past. Everything he does, in the end, can be seen as being done for himself...but his heart is usually in the right place.
Powers: None.
Hobbies: A natural musician, Cade can find a beat to follow in almost any setting. He loves browsing old records shops for music he has never heard and when alone, he takes out his old guitar, his most prized possession, and strums away until night closes in on him. A competitive spirit, he enjoys most sports, but excels in soccer and tennis, having played during his travels on one team or another for a day or two.
Occupation: Despite his orphaned status, Cade was determined to make something of himself. While taking odd jobs as a cook or a clerk, and even a bartender from time to time, despite being underage, he put himself through college with a General Studies degree. Now, he can do whatever he wishes. Roswell Academy looks to be a good place to start, but that will have to wait until school is in session. For now, he finds a job at Mittie's Tea Room as a clerk, and occasionally, a cook when he's needed.

History: Born to parents that had one too many rockin' nights, he grew up often neglected and always the last on the list. His parents, Luther and Abigail, had never wanted a child, but on a chilly April night in 1984 in Somerset England, they were blessed with one anyway. They considered him a mistake, from the very start, but somehow, they managed to give him a name. Caeden Arthur Merrell. Surprisingly, despite having a child out of wedlock, Abigail did give him his father's last name. For whatever it was supposed to mean to him.
He grew up poor and more often than not, begging on the streets. His parents had neither pride nor shame, accepting handouts whenever they could, seeming perfectly happy to have nothing at all. Despite the nuisance they considered him to be, his parents kept him with them until he was, honestly, old enough to take care of himself. Twelve years after his birth, he had decided one night that he didn't want to be the 'poor thing' that the old ladies pointed at anymore. He wanted to be someone, somebody...the man that would make heads turn. Highly matured for his age, Cade had already made his own decision to leave one night. It was winter and bitterly cold, but he didn't care. He had suffered the worst already in his life; a night alone on the cold, city streets was nothing he couldn't handle. The night he planned to leave, his parents had already beat him to it. He woke up in the shelter, just in time to see his father's broad shoulders walking out the door. As it shut behind them, he laid back on the bed and looked up at the ceiling. He had always felt alone, and now, he truly was.
So, at the age of 12, he set out on his own, walking everywhere and catching a ride when the chance came by. He had made it a point to attend school wherever he was wandering. For six years, he walked the streets of England and at night, he read by whatever light he could find. Most people thought it strange, the homeless boy with Shakespeare, but he didn't care. He remembered his promise to himself, all those years ago. He would be someone.
At age 18, he waltzed into a small university and asked to enroll. Due to his appearance and demeanor, he was denied, but a kindly old professor caught him in the hall and led him to his room. The old man promised to get him a chance to take entrance exams, but he had to prove himself first. The man, an English professor, forced him, for hours, to analyze a poem and read a sonnet...By the end, the man was more than impressed and even went so far as to fudge the records, recounting his previous education and vouching for it himself. So it was, and Cade had his chance at an education. He passed the entrance exams with amazing accuracy and spent four years of his life working his way through college. He would study all day, and then work all night as a chef at the local bar. It was anything but easy, and again, the old man came to his aide. He told Cade he could live with him, on one condition...He would have to be his assistant. It added another load to his already busy life, but with gratitude, he welcomed the next challenge. Working for the professor, for the bar, and for himself in college, he graduated at the age of 22.
Perhaps the gypsy in his parents was awakened with him; he saw a greater chance for himself somewhere else in the world. After shaking hands with the professor, Dr. Copeland, he snuck on-board a freightliner one night. When he stepped off amid the cargo and tourists, he found himself on the eastern coast of America, land of opportunity. He had landed in Savannah, Georgia, and the first thing he noticed was the heat...It wasn't unbearable to him, but merely different. He took it in stride, adapting, and once again, his feet were his only means of transportation. For a year, he drifted here and there, helping some family or another with whatever menial, yet back-breaking chores they needed done. With a little money and a lot of hope, he went on his way.
Soon, he was farther north, but still in Georgia. A truck dropped him off and he looked at the city-sign they had just passed...Roswell. It had seemed like a good enough place to linger for a while. And linger he had, but only for a few months. He had worked on the farms in the country, and helped an out man down by the swamp. Now, he was in the city and ready to start his life. A few whispers had informed him of Roswell Academy...He would make his start there, as a teacher. He had much more than academic lessons to share; he had lessons in life.
