ALWAYS WITH US

Habakkuk 2:1-4 (NRSV)
I will stand at my watchpost,
and station myself on the rampart;
I will keep watch to see what he will say to me,
and what he will answer concerning my complaint.
Then the LORD answered me and said:
Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so that a runner may read it.
For there is still a vision for the appointed time;
it speaks of the end, and does not lie.
If it seems to tarry, wait for it;
it will surely come, it will not delay.
Look at the proud!
Their spirit is not right in them,
but the righteous live by their faith.

MANY years ago after being confronted with some serious concerns in my family, I began writing letters to God in a journal. As time passed, I wrote one or two letters a year. Now I can look back at my journal and see that God was at work in many situations where solutions looked impossible.
When I look back at my worries not from last week or last month but from many years ago, I can see the much bigger picture of how God works in our lives. God does not work on our schedule; our calendar is not God's calendar. Our job is to keep praying and, most of all, to keep trusting.
Sometimes waiting for answers is the most anxious time of all. Events can so envelop us that we lose hope; but, worse still, we lose our trust and faith in our ever-present God. In the midst of our worries, we may lose sight of God even though we are never separated from God's love.
I must remember always to keep praying and to have faith and trust in our living, loving, heavenly Father.
Prayer: Dear God, help us to know that you are with us always, no matter what circumstances we face. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God is always up to something!
