Title: Final Fantasy going downhill?

Dkj400 - January 5, 2005 01:04 PM (GMT)
I hear people who say that FF is going downhill and that the classic ones were the best. Wtf? What's up with that? Modern day FF's are superior to the older FF's in many areas.

Discuss.

I will agree at the point to X-2, and XI. But I gotta wait for XII to find out if this is really true. FFX was ok.

No overkilling way!

The way i see it, new people just dont like the ''classic''(as i like to call it, not old) stuff from old FFs, like the epic story and great chars, while some just like the classic ones, and wont play the new, cuz of the classical great chars(compare Cecil who takes the trial to become a paladin to Tidus, who was seen crying in the game)

Also, some people love the drama, loved FFIV, and some just wouldnt stop complaining about Aeris death even after watching the ending, thus Square removed most sacrifices(Zidane, Yuna, Tidus

And some new players dont even beat the game, let alone ''perfect'' (master) it seems that FFX for example didnt have the same difficulty as FFIV i mean, u dont ever have to fight creatures that overpower u by such a lot in FFX, and in any case, u can use ur Aeons as shields, which makes boss battles a lot easier, in FFIV u dont have shields and the enemy doenst always say ''5, 4, 3, 2 ,1 fire'' before firing his cannon(FFX), and even if it does, its likely it wont only hurt a lot but give u status alighments, like confuse(FFV)

Also in previous FFs u dint have Limit Break, Trance or Overdrive to save ur butt if the boss got too hard...ok u had an attack boost if that happened in FFIV but not a whole combo made speciafically to end the boss quickly

the new FFs are made to please the people, i guess that classic stuffs not ''in'' anymore, people dont want to hear a lot of knights tales these days, rather the tale of a ''time traveling star player'' all the stuff is just plain boring to some, i know people from both tastes, and evertime i hear them i say''U dont know how much great stuff ure missing''

classic FFs: The main character is mostly trained in the art of battle.
New FFs: Complete opposite

I'm not saying this is bad. I actually like it. I'm just saying I'd prefer trained main characters. Like Squall, Cloud. and meh. And it's not going way downhill either.

So really, people don't like improvements.

that's not what I meant exactly o_O unless that was headed towards me.

I was referring to Knight.

Well...its just that those made tha game too easy, FFX had a few challenging bosses...ut most were at the battle arena...if ure gonna use shields, at least let the shield be destroyed in the proces, i remember when Valefor srvived a cannon blastand he wasnt even in defesnse...im just saying it wasnt enough challenge, then again, some new players like that way

I think, that FF7, is and always will be the best RPG... :bite:

I think that the classic games would be good if they had graphics as good as the modern ones. However, X-2 will still be superior. WOot X-2!!

Dkj400 - February 5, 2005 10:46 AM (GMT)
FFX-2 the best? Hmmm....

OneWingedAngel - February 8, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)
You have a good point I love the modern FF's they stomp on the older games,But, I must also say the older games are more how would I put it unique!

Dkj400 - February 9, 2005 12:03 AM (GMT)
Older FF's have that special something. But modern FF's are more fun to play. The exception is FF7, I don't know what it is but I can never get enough of it, wow.
