Title: Glowing txt

AirStriker - October 24, 2004 12:58 PM (GMT)
Ok today I’m going to show you how to make a nice glowing text effect using both Photoshop and Image Ready.

Step1. Open a new document of any size, make your background and then add the text you want to be glowing. I will be working with something like this:

As you can see part of the text is not visible due to the background, but the glowing effect will sort that out.

Step2. You need to duplicate the text layer, to do this, right click on the text layer and move down to ‘duplicate layer’

Step3. Double click on the new text layer to get to the blending options/layer style menu and apply these settings:

Step4. Make the new layer invisible by pressing this button:

Step5. Press this button to take you to image ready:

Step6. Now that image ready is loaded there is no more deign work to be done, please note that animation should be made at the end of all the design work as image ready does not have all the functions Photoshop does.

What we need to do is make a new animation layer, to do this you need to find this tool box and press the button indicated:

Step7. Now with the new animation layer selected you need to go over to the layers panel and re-press the button you pressed in ‘Step4.’

Step8. With this done a tween needs to be applied between the two animation layers, to do this you need to select the first animation layer and press this button:

A box will appear on your screen you need to change the settings to the ones below:

Step9. You will see in the animation tool box that 30 new animation layers will have appeared, what you need to do now is select the very last animation layer and make a new animation layer like you did in ‘Step6’

Now on this new animation layer you need to re-press again the invisible button on the layers panel and one you pressed in ‘Step4’ and ‘Step7’

Step10. With that done you need to go to the animation layer you where on before you made the new animation layer and repeat ‘Step8’

Step11. To see your work in all its glory this is what you need to do:

Go to FILE:SAVE OPTIMIZED AS… give your file a name and then you can open your animation without any distractions. I got this:

(IMPOTANT: if you have a problem saving, you might get a message saying it cant save as an animation, then follow these steps:

Click the button that you clicked to be switched to ‘Image Ready’ this will take you back to ‘Photoshop’

Once there go FILE:SAVE FOR WEB

A new screen will appear find the area where it says Jpeg in a pull down menu, if you pull that down you will see a whole list of other save types, you need to choose one of the Gif save types. Gif128 No Differ is the one I use.

With that done press save. Now press the button to go back to ‘Image Ready’ and repeat ‘Step11’ you should no long get the error)
