Book of Potions and Rituals: First Year
By: Professor Elijah Patrick Halliwell

Potions are essential to life as a witch. Witches use potions for rituals, vanquishes, and various other parts of witchcraft. As a result, Potions is a course that will be taught throughout your time in Magic School. So let’s begin.

To Break the Bonds of Love
We’re going to start off with a ritual. This ritual is to break the bonds of love. In all cases, it should only be used to break the bonds of a love imposed, not true love.

Ingredients and Materials:
- A basket
-One poppet ((or doll))
-9 Candles anointed with oils and spices ((various shapes and sizes are acceptable))
-Roses given from the lover

Process:
Place the 9 candles on a table in a circle. In the center of the candles, place the basket. Tie the roses around the poppet and attach the thorns to the poppet. Place the poppet in the basket and burn it.

Warlock Vanquishing Potion
Next we move onto a Warlock Vanquishing Potion. This potion was used by the Charmed Ones to vanquish a warlock named Nicholas. This potion will be used in Battle Tactics several times.

Ingredients and Materials:
- Lavender blossoms
- Mimosa leaves
- Holy thistle
- Optional: Owl Feather

Process:
Begin to boil water in a cauldron. While doing so, grind the mimosa leaves and holy thistle together until they have become somewhat of a powder. Once the water is boiled, add the ground mimosa and holy. When the liquid begins to turn red, add the lavender blossoms. Warning adding the lavender blossoms will cause the potion to explode a bit. If it does not, the mimosa and holy were not ground enough and you will need to start over. After the explosion, to give the Vanquishing Potion an additional kick, add one owl feather. This will cause the explosion to explode again.

To Banish a Ghost
This is a potion. It should be used on a ghost, not a living being. If it used on a living being, nothing will happen.

Ingredients and Materials:
- A palm-full of pomegranate seeds
- A pinch of comfrey root
- A pinch of blood meal
- A pinch of clematis seed
- A pinch of dried rhubarb leaf

Process:
Grind the pomegranate seeds into a fine paste. Once this is done, add the following ingredients IN ORDER:
-a pinch of comfrey root powder
-a pinch of blood meal
-a pinch of clematis seed
-a pinch of ground dried rhubarb leaf

The rhubarb leaf will cause the mixture to begin to smoke. Once it does, pour it into a blessed chalice with water. This potion must be poured over the remains of the deceased.

To Summon a Spirit
This is a ritual to commune with the spirits of the dearly departed. It should not be used to summon an evil spirit.

Ingredients and Materials:
-6 White Candles
- Cinnamon
- Frankincense
- Sandalwood
- A white cloth

Process:
Place the six white candles in a circle on the floor. On a nearby table, burn frankincense, sandalwood, and cinnamon incense over a white cloth. Once all the incense are lit, begin saying the spell.

Hear these words, hear our cry, spirit from the other side, come to me, I summon thee, cross now the great divide

To Call a Lost Witch
This ritual can only be used in summoning a witch of the same bloodline. As it is, it cannot be used to summon another witch. In order to do so, certain modifications need to be made.

Ingredients and Materials:
- Rosemary
- Cypress
- Yarrow root
- A drop of your blood

Process”
Mix ingredients into a silver bowl and slice the left finger of the left hand with an athame so that blood can symbolically spill directly from the heart and into the bowl. Chant while doing this.

Powers of the Witches rise, course unseen across the skies, come to us who call you near, come to us and settle here.

If you are summoning a witch not of the same bloodline, in place of blood, use a personal item.

To Summon a Witch Doctor
Use caution when performing this ritual for Witch Doctors are unpredictable and very tricky.

Ingredients and Materials:
- Liverwort
- Pinch of dragon root
- Snakeskin

Process:
Add liverwort and dragon root together in a cauldron then recite the spell to summon a witch doctor aloud and add the snakeskin.

Barbas Vanquishing Potion
Though variations of the same vanquishing potion may be used to vanquish upper level demons, this one is different.

Ingredients and Materials:
-Dragon Root
-Eel Skin
-Pigs Feet
-Owl Feather
-Fairy Tears

Process:
Follow this process with EXTREME detail. Failure to do so will result in an improperly created potion.
In a cauldron of boiling water, add the powdered dragon root. Stir until the powder has caused the water to become brown. Once it is brown, add the eel skin. This will cause the potion to begin to smoke. Warning: The eel skin will cause the potion to emit a smoke with a strong oder. Kepe an eye on the smoke. Once the smoke changes from white to black, add the pigs feet. This will cause the potion to stop smoking and become a purple color. The potion will also be very thick. Once it becomes hard to stir, add four drops of bottled Fairy Tears. This will cause the potion to almost instinatly become black. It will also become very fluid. While stiring, bolts of electricity will begin to appear on the surface. Once the bolts become red, add one owl feather. Warning: Adding the feather will cause a LARGE explosion. Use caution while you're adding the feather.
