Basic Demon Vanquishes

What is a demon? What exactly defines evil? This topic will be discussed and explored throughout the book. As forces of good, you will consistently face forces of evil. This class, specifically this book, will help you with that. A majority of the pages in this book have been taken from the Halliwell Family Book of Shadows.

So, we begin with a question. What is a demon?

Definition of A Demon
A demon, in terms of religion, folklore and mythology, is a supernatural being generally described as a malevolent spirit. Demon is a general term to classify a group of evil beings. Several classifications of demons will be discussed throughout this book.

Javna
Javna is a demon who feeds one week out of every year. He steals the life force from the young by invoking the power of The Evil Eye. His ultimate goal is to obtain eternal youth.

Javna was vanquished years ago by the Charmed One¡¦s using the Hand of Fatima spell. This spell was originally cast by Mohammad years ago.

Hand of Fatima
Evil eyes look unto thee.
May they soon extinguished be.
Bend thy will to the power of three.
Eye of earth, evil and accursed

However, because the Charmed One¡¦s no longer exist, this spell no longer works because it calls upon the power of three.

Rewritten, the following spell should vanquish Javna:

Evil eyes look unto thee
May they soon extinguished be
Bend thy will to the power of me.
Eye of the earth, evil and accursed.

This spell causes the users hand to glow and fire white beams of light from the palm of the hand. These beams cause the magic of The Evil Eye to reverse and cause Javna to age, until he becomes dust.

Shapeshifters
Shapeshifters are lower level demons that can manipulate there physical structure into that of any person or any thing. Though there identity can change, they still have an individual persona different from everyone else. Even though there physical structure can change, they cannot copy powers. For example, a shapeshifter may turn shift into a demon, but cannot shimmer.

Shapeshifters can be vanquished by the following vanquishing spell:
Those whose face is not there own
Their fate forever atoned
Rid this place of their roam
Protect us now, protect this home.

This spell causes the shapeshifter to basically explode. The more powerful the shapeshifter is, the stronger the effect the spell has.

The following spell may also be helpful:
In the circle that is home safety's gone and evils roam.
Rid all beings from our walls, save us now heed our call

This spell protects a home to prevent entry of a shapeshifter.

Hecate
Hecate is a demon who comes to Earth every two hundred years to find an innocent. She puts this innocent under her spell and marries him in a sanctified wedding. She forces this man to impregnate her, so that her child would look normal on the outside, but internally and mentally, will be pure demon. She and her followers eat human flesh and can change into their "true" identity.

To vanquish Hecate, you need the Poingnard, which is a fourteenth century silver blade with an incantation scribed on it. The incantation reads, Nec prius absistit quoad protero prodigium, which is Latin for I shall not rest until the demon is vanquished. This blade traps Hecate within the blade, preventing her from escaping. If it were to fall into the wrong hands, she could easily be released to attempt her evil again. When Hecate is trapped in the blade, her followers are vanquished as well.

Warlocks
Witches follow a simple rule; the Wiccan Rede. In short, the rede prevents witches from using magic for evil and personal gain. Warlocks are witches who decide to cross the line that divides good and evil. A warlock is like a witch and has the opportunity to chose whether they wish to be good or evil. Warlock¡¦s eyes are extremely sensitive eyes. Flashes of bright lights cause them to temporarily lose there power to blink. Blinking is their form of teleportation.

Warlock¡¦s overall goal is to steal witches powers.

Warlock Subspecies
ƒÂ Collectors: Warlocks who are able to drain knowledge through needle like finger protrusions. They also happen to share the ability to blink and invulnerability. After draining their victims information from their head, the victims lose part of their memory and become catatonic. A Collector can also put the information back in someone's head, which revives the person. A Collector's greatest weakness is his thirst for knowledge.
ƒÂ Dragon Warlock: Known to be the most feared and powerful witch killer there is. He has the power to breathe fire, fly and he possesses superhuman strength. The Dragon Warlock is rumored to be the spawn of a dragon and a sorceress, according to the Book of Shadows entry.
ƒÂ Familiar Warlock: When a witch's Familiar decides to betray its charge, it becomes a Warlock, taking human form. The familiar's dead witch's powers are transferred to the new warlock in the process. Once this is done, the new Warlock must shed the last of its familiar nature before midnight of the next New Moon in order to become invincible. In the case of a feline familiar, the warlock must die 9 times in order to gain a 10th life of immortality.
ƒÂ Three-Eyed Warlock: A Warlock from the future that has a third eye which emits a deadly beam to kill innocents

Warlocks can only be vanquished by a vanquishing potion, which will be taught in Potions.

Wendigo
The Wendigo is an undead demon which roams the Earth eating the hearts of those in love. The first Wendigo was a man who was betrayed by his lover. He became a Wendigo by feasting on her heart. Instead of savoring his revenge, his own heart turned to ice. Because of this, during the day and during the full moon, the Wendigo looks like a normal being. On the third day of the full moon, his power is at its greatest. When a Wendigo attacks, but does not kill, whoever was attacked becomes a Wendigo. The only way one may cease being a Wendigo is to kill the original.

Wendigo¡¦s can only be vanquished by melting their hearts. Because of this, they are very afraid of fire.

Barbas
Barbas is the Demon of Fear, an upper level demon. His power allows him to see fears and use it against his enemies, causing them to be literally scared to death. Barbas appears on Earth every Friday the 13th for 24 hours. He is able to come to Earth because of the convergence of negative energies throughout the Universe. His ultimate goal is to kill 13 unmarried female witches within his 24 hour time span. Doing so would allow him to walk the Earth without restraint.

Barbas is weakened when his enemies overcome their greatest fears. It is at this point that one is able to vanquish Barbas. Throughout his recorded existence, Barbas has been vanquished twice, and still has a way of returning from the Demonic Wasteland. His first vanquish was from Belthazor. The second time was by the Charmed Ones using a potion.

The vanquishing potion used will be taught in Potions.

The Woogyman
The Woogyman is a demon which resides within the nexus. During Earthquakes, the demon is released. This demon is also known in myth as the Boogie Man, a creature which feeds off the souls of youth.

The Woogyman is apart of the nexus and therefore cannot be destroyed without destroying the Nexus. In order to banish the Woogyman, the following spell is required:
I am light.
I am one too strong to fight.
Return to dark where Shadows dwell.
I repel you with this spell.
So go away and leave my sight,
And take with you this endless night.

Grimlocks
Grimlocks are easily identified by there appearance. Grimlocks have white skin and glowing red eyes. These red eyes begin to spin when they are stealing the sight of a child.

Grimlocks are demons who are able to see auras by stealing the sight of young children. This eyesight lasts for only 24 hours. They seek out forces of good and strangle them with their own aura.

Upon vanquishing the Grimlock, the any child still alive who lost their eyesight will have their vision returned. To vanquish a Grimlock, you need to gather schisandra root and boil it in water with thyme. This potion will cause the Grimlock to go blind and thus, vanquishing it.

Tempus
Tempus is an upper level demon who can manipulate time in anyway by creating time loops or reseting time. Tempus literally means time in Latin. Many civilizations refer to him as "The Devil's Sorcerer¡¨.
There are a few ways to stop Tempus. The first way is to break his control over time. If one is stuck in a time loop, moving them to a different time would cause Tempus¡¦s power to be weakened. Tempus can also be vanquished by a vanquishing spell.
It is very difficult to find Tempus because he is a powerful demon who is well insulated.

Use this spell to break free from Tempus¡¦s control:
Winds of time gather round. Give me wings to speed my way.
Rush me on my journey forward. Let tomorrow be today.

This spell will cause the caster to travel forward in time.

To vanquish Tempus, use the following spell:
Remove him, remove him, From the time he's in.
