Title: Radiant Mythology is being localized.

Sirth - March 14, 2007 03:11 PM (GMT)
Nope, not lying.

If this is any indication that the others may get a localization, or even Rebirth getting put back on the copyright list, I'm all for it.

Well, and gonna buy it of course.

NuklearArel - March 14, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
What did I tell you guys? It's possible! I said "just like SSBM, it doesn't matter whether the characters are in the US or not."
I knew Namco Bandai would finally listen to their fans.

Ritios - March 14, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
omg
Watch the RUIN THE VA's!
They'll mess everything up because Namco USA sucks like that...
*has a huntch*
BUT YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!

Isenet - March 14, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
O_O...

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Now I need a PSP...:(

And don't be so pessimistic, Ritios ^_^

Ritios - March 14, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
I'm not being pessimistic... It's just... T_T I dont trust Namco USA anymore

Please, if they're giving us a game that everyone thought would never make it here, then you should trust them some more.
Voice acting doesn't matter at the moment.

Sirth - March 14, 2007 09:32 PM (GMT)
I'm just wondering if they'll get the original voice actors for some of the characters, or if they'll have to be entirely new. I'm expecting either some unknowns or the Abyss cast is going to be scattered about.

Just like how I was arguing that it was possible for Abyss to be localized. Except I would have gotten flamed if I stuck it in their faces when it came true. XD

Anyways, W00T!! I don't mind unvoiced skits, I hope they just retain the JP audio though. I know the localiation is going to be weak, but playing this game without having to import it is going to be convenient.

Lyrrad - March 15, 2007 03:55 AM (GMT)
Before anyone asks:

"Q: What about the characters that were never localized?"
and
"Q: What about Symphonia and Phantasia?! Nintendo did the job!"
Is probably going to be asked.

My answer is:
"A: Do what they did with Nanaly and pretend they did exist in the US."
and
"A: Do what they did with Mint and pretend Nintendo didn't even exist."

Great. Now I'm going to pest my friend to downgrade his PSP/Buy this game.

Leon Magnus - March 15, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
I can't wait to hear Leon, Stahn, Rutee Harold, Eugene, and Annie's VAs! The first time they'll be in english. If they screw up Leon's voice.... i am gonna kill something.

Sirth - March 15, 2007 04:09 AM (GMT)
Fuzzy Critter had this to say.

"SURPRISE!

Couple of quick comments on what people have been saying here:

1. Arte names
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for being OK with updated names. The general rule is: where there are multiple names, use the post-Symphonia name. So it's Demon Fang for everyone. If they haven't been used (so there's only the original name) then they probably stayed the same. However! If it's a derivative of something that has a new name, then it will be updated to maintain consistency. Or at least that's the hope. Smile

2. Infrastructure
Like the interview said, infrastructure is cut. We're tweaking the mercenary system to compesate somewhat, but the character upload/download won't make it here. Sorry.

3. Voices
No voice cuts.
It's not bilingual (and there was much lamentation...) but every scene, chat, whatnot that had voice in the Japanese will have voice in the English. With y'all's help, hopefully we can make this the start of a trend... (hint, hint, tell your friends)

Okay, gotta run now. Thanks for the good vibes on bringing this out (and the several "THAT was random" comments too)!

Peter"

NuklearArel - March 15, 2007 12:38 PM (GMT)
Alright! Fully voiced, finally!

Isenet - March 15, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
*ponders*

I know two people with PSPs that are my friends...but I'm not sure if either would be interested v_v

Leon Magnus - March 15, 2007 10:17 PM (GMT)
If only I could magicaly teleport over to you with my Japanese ToW:RM, or maybe I might buy the ENG is the voices and translation arn't 'effed.

Sunny - March 16, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Yay! They're using Nintendo's translation of Symphonia (Who did better than them!) I hope they retain Decisive Slice instead of Soaring Wind or whatever Guy had.

Sirth - March 16, 2007 06:37 AM (GMT)
Severing Wind? I liked that better than Decisive Slice myself.

And they said Post-Symphonia. I'm sure they mean the most recent translation after Symphonia.

NuklearArel - March 16, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
Missle Sword!

Aw man, I would've loved to hear Stahn and Leon yell that.

But, we could now finally hear how Destiny/Destiny 2/Rebirth characters would sound if they ever plan for US release. I'm pretty sure for Chester and Arche, they would use their OVA voices, or probably new voice actors.

I sure hope the main character voices sound good.

Leon Magnus - March 16, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
Lion: Missle Sword!
Stahn: Missle Swrdou!
Lloyd: Uhh... Demon Fang?

Sirth - March 16, 2007 10:48 PM (GMT)
You forgot...

Reid: Sonic Blade!

Sunny - March 16, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
I hope this encourages more localization of further Tales games!

Aw darn, I thought post meant "at".

Tienron - March 28, 2007 08:02 AM (GMT)
this could also mean more tales games for psp and also People who signed up to receive news on the Namco Bandai's site. the Tales series have received a survey asking what they think of the series. THIS could mean more tales games hahahaha

Osakamon - March 28, 2007 12:51 PM (GMT)
This game has Arche, which was the best follow up good news to this game being released. I'm so glad I have a friend with a PSP who likes Tales of series and all I will have to do is say Kratos and she'll go buy like fifty copies.

Certainly. It's good to know that Tales has a growing fanbase, but I'm skeptical about the future Tales games...being that Namco is immigrating to the PS3 and that the PS3 costs so much. (As well as not being so popular among the console wars)

NuklearArel - April 15, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Radiant Mythology video up:
http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/10730

Lloyd obviously has a different voice actor. Genis does as well, but sounds similar. Also, note that the move Rekkuuzan is now translated as Tempest Strike.

Sunny - April 15, 2007 07:05 PM (GMT)
Just two complaints:
- I prefer original voice actors.
- Tempest Strike?! Okay, not a big deal perhaps, but what's wrong with just "Tempest"? =(

Good video, thanks for sharing!

Lyrrad - April 17, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
Although I haven't even been close to playing the game, the US version looks very promising! Tempest Strike mildly bugs me, though.

Lloyd's new VA is fine, but the original was better. Genis is also good enough for me.

Sirth - April 17, 2007 09:36 AM (GMT)
Yeah, gotta admit, I prefer Tempest as well. Despite my odd thinking from Beast being reduced in length, that probably is better too.

I was expecting them to not get the original VAs anyway. I personally think we probably have some system that prevents it, like unions (Scott could be in one) or studios.

Tienron - April 21, 2007 09:50 PM (GMT)
no complaints sounds alright lloyd sounds pretty cool and i like genius already the move list looks dodgy but i can deal with it pretty nice game when it comes out

King Dhaos - April 22, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
I just wanna know if Tales of the World RM is EVER going to come out in the U.S, which it probably isn't. <_<

Ritios - April 22, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)
Read the begining of this thread... They announced that IT IS being localized...

Sunny - April 22, 2007 07:19 PM (GMT)
Someone is rather slow...

Leon Magnus - April 24, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)
Indeed the voice acting is pretty... well actualy, it's decent. Genis sounds more like Jp Genis and Lloyd just sounds too young. XD

Majin Rengokusatsu - April 30, 2007 10:00 PM (GMT)
I'm gonna buy this game asap. BTW I was in EBgames and they said that in there computer its listed to be released on July 2nd. Don't tell me that EB isnt reliable. I already know that

AngelicARMMaster - May 1, 2007 07:30 AM (GMT)
"Tempest" was renamed to "Tempest Strike" because in RM, there is a spell called "Tempest." Rather than renaming the spell, Namco decided to rename the tech instead.

BTW, if I'm not mistaken, Namco first introduced the "Tempest" spell in Tales of the Tempest. (Arria Ekberg has that spell)

Ritios - May 1, 2007 11:00 AM (GMT)
Changing Older than changing the newer... Pfeh NAMCO oA really loves messing with our games huh?

Sirth - May 8, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
We have boxart!

http://www.us.playstation.com/PSP/Games/Ta...diant_Mythology

Compare to:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-9f-49-...gy-70-1mie.html

I have to admit, I think I like the NA package more than the JP one. I guess it just seems more flashy or something.

Sunny - May 8, 2007 12:21 AM (GMT)
I agree. Official art on white BG is uncreative. =S

EDIT: Why is the rare/good information always on less noticeable sites? XD

Seraphim Swordmaster - May 12, 2007 08:26 PM (GMT)
While a RM localisation is good news, the one thing I don't like are the Hi-Ougi's... is it just me or do they look a little... limp?
