Bunnywisk showed me this game. It looks beautiful and reminds me a lot of Tales. It's got anime cutscenes, (the opening theme is anime), Hymms (From Abyss), and Ougis (With cut-ins). The only difference is that this is single player and it's Turn Based Combat. XD

Man it looks interesting. If this game sells well, Namco better learn that 2D PS2 games can sell great in America.

I have this game. XD In Japanese of course. Haven't played it yet though.

Well apparently the Americanized version has both English and Japanese audio ^_^ I already preordered mine X3 Can't wait to get it

That just convinced me a lot more. I'll do one playthrough in English. If I get annoyed somewhere in the center, I'll switch the voices to Japanese.

I think what you do is raise your own heroine, something similar to Princess Maker [but without the father daughter relationship and ALOT more action]. <~ That is IF I remember right about the details of the game.

No, you do not raise your own heroine like a daughter. It's more like going through "dungeons and events" to raise affection for Misia or Olika. :Nod:

I'm just curious. Why is this game so popular already? I mean, it just seems like all the other turn-based RPGs out there. What's its appeal?

Official Art - It catches a person's eye. Especially mines. Man...Olika and Misia is so pretty and cute. <3 And uh, Misia is a lolicon object so uh...yeah, with the rising pedo-rates, I'm not surprised there's a lot of Misia fans. ._.;

It's a lot like Tales, it's an RPG, with anime-like official art and graphics. They even have cut-ins for Ougis. There's an affection system and a unique TBC battle system. But I think the physical appearances does the job of raking popularity.

Yeah, I know. The artwork appeals to me greatly, which is what made me want to pick up the AI games. But the turn-based system is what's keeping me away, although I know a few games I played for a good while that are turn based. Riviera I'm still working on, and I asked AND got Grandia II for Christmas. Still remember liking Romancing Saga 3, although I haven't played it in nearly a year (Got stuck at the water Abyss gate I think. Too weak for the boss.).

There's a copy of AI nearby. Maybe I should pick that up and see what happens.

Well, this TBC is kind of unique if you ask me. ;D Protecting spellcasters by positioning melee fightes eh...and affection plays a role in the battle system too. Aww...how sweet.

It looks alot like Valkyrie Profile in a way, but then agin, not everyone puts the mages in the back. xD

I'm still picking up AI to get an idea of what AT will be like.

I kinda regret preordering it now XD If it's a bit inappropriate.. then my siblings will wonder what the heck is wrong with me... Stupid attractive art...

Oh, well. The good thing is that the dual audio is confirmed. I'm definitely going for the Japanese audio.

They said JP vocals lacked emotion...well, we'll see about that...biased patriots...

I guess I didn't listen to much, but frankly, what I did listen to, knowing the English equivalent... trust me, there was a huge difference in favor of English.

The OVA voice acting was pretty good for Ar Tonelico though.

I prefer playing Disgaea 1 in english. Since Invasion From Whithin plays and iam not to fond of Luke being Mid-Boss and all. .__. Same goes whith D2.

I don't know, I just think the English actors in the Disgaea games and Makai Kingdom fit much better than the Japanese ones.
I know the scene from the zombie chapter in Disgaea. I was somewhat awestruck that the acting on the Japanese side for the last stage was... subpar. After hearing so much how Japanese actors were "Oh so better" in everything that they did first, I guess I was amazed that for once, I could say the English actors beat the Japanese ones to the ground... with giant hammers. I want to try for more to make my opinion more valid, but I fear I'd be wasting my time.
Same for Makai Kingdom. I thought some of the English actors fit a lot better than the Japanese ones, mostly Zetta. I like him acting like an arrogant badass than an egotistical overlord. I just think a lordly way of speaking doesn't fit him.
Disgaea 2 made me think Midorikawa should stick to dark characters like Leon and avoid the heroic ones like Adell, or Adell should of been less heroic. It fit, but at the same time it didn't.
And in the two Disgaea games, I think the volume was kinda... low. Like they recorded at a lower volume for some reason. They just seemed less audible in Japanese than in English. Didn't have to turn up the volume.

Yay~ I got my copy after work today X3 The artbook is REALLY small.. and it's more like a mini character book.. I was a bit disappointed.

The game is pretty good so far. Although I've only played for about an hour XD I like the Japanese voices~

I am planning on getting it. >< My mom says tommarow, but because of it, I may have to wait out longer for ToD2 PSP....

I thought the artwork was amazingly beuatiful and then... I looked at the system and the characters look like Super Nintendo drawings in battle and I was immediatley turned off ;_; I'm so shallow hahaha

I think the sprites are cute XD They're definitely not low quality or anything like that. The colours show, and it's pretty detailed in my opinion. I just dislike the lag they have XD

Inquiry... is it just me, or does the more chibi artwork of the characters remind anyone else of Riviera? The style just seems so similar...

Hahahaha I'm quoting myself! Anyways hahahah I take back what I said about the sprites looking weird and stuff. I didn't have my contacts on so they looked a lil weird to me at the time hahahha. But I just saw them clearly and they look cool! :o
