This Tales game on the DS will feature a combination of Tales of the Abyss' battle system and Tales of Destiny Remake's battle system. The battle system in this game is called Dimension Stride Linear Motion Battle System. (DS-LMBS) Mutsumi Inomata returns as the character designer. The main hero is a young boy named Ruca Milda, the heroine is Iria Animi.

The story takes place in a world that has been in war for ages. The Imperial captail of Regnum enjoys peace thanks to it's military superiority, which leaves it neutral. However, people begin to develop unreal powers. As a result, higher authority has feared them and labeled them as dangerous, so they begin to arrest them. The story unfolds as Ruca himself realizes that he also develops powers of his own.

Ruca Milda

Ruca is a young boy who has lived in the city capital of Regnum ever since the war started. In school, he is an excellent honor student with remarkable academic achievement. However, because of his introvert personality, he is easily picked on by his fellow peers.

Iria Animi

Weight: 53 Kg
Iria is a wild girl with a lot of spunk and independence. She is chased from her village by a band of unknown people. When she escapes, she somehow crosses paths with Ruca. At fist, she resorts to anger quickly because of Ruca's modest honesty, but she ironically tags along. She is also accompanied by a mysterious green creature.

Spada Belforma
Age: 17
Height: 177 Cm (5'9")
Weight: 71 Kg
A young man who originates from an aristocratic family of nobility. For unknown reasons, he cut off ties with his family and siblings and never came back to his noble home. Spada is kind and warm-hearted who believes in righteous justice. Things get interesting as he meets Iria, whose own personality contrasts with his.

Ricardo Soldato
Age: 27
Height: 183 Cm (6'1")
Weight: 77 Kg
A sniper who wields his bayonet with remarkable ability; he is wise, experienced and rationally makes agreements. He appears before Ruca as a mercenary who is hired to do his job, but it seems that they are in his way...

Finally, a new DS game. This looks good.

Tempest was okay, but Innocence looks even better.

This game has the Dimention Stride (ha) battle system, which loks to be a mix of TOTA and TOD PS2's systems

Why can't they stop using Abyss graphics and monsters? Those have the worst enemy AI ever. If this game doesn't have Free-Run, that would make up for the easy difficulty Abyss had. =)

abyss is easy i don;t think so lol it's hard but yeah hope this is better than tempest

Free Run abuse, AD Skill abuse, FSC Abuse, easy-to-use Hi Ougis. C'mon, it's hard not to use them. Even if you don't use them, it's not fun anymore. Just 1 or 2 playthroughs with Abyss and inheritance and it's easy.

If that's the remake battle system... *fangasm*

hmmm i dunno about not being fun be yeah still hi ougi were'nt meant to be hard to use in the first place ad skills i haven;t even gotten all of them dunno how :( but yes it is overall easy

I rather see a beautiful 2D Tales than this but need to see more of to judge. I wonder what happens when that sword gauge is filled...

Yeah, I agree. Maybe Rebirth style, that way they could fit more things onto the DS other than 10 hours of gameplay and voice-overs for battle only.

i don;t see anything that catches my eye right now there are only two charater's and if i'm correct this has been in prodution since tales of the world ~_~ my my i must say they better put characters and thought into this

It's time for an update on this little beauty! Based on the video, the game shows more playable characters, but no names I could find...

Luca - He sounds even girlier than the gun-girl. Uses giant swords.
Iria - Dual gun-girl. :D
Blue-haired man - Unknown about him, but uses a single blade.
Green-haired man - Uses Twin blades. Possibly a clone of Lloyd. Nah, I'm kidding.
Purple haired girl - Uses her fists to fight.
Dark Haired Man - Uses a freakin' rifle, how awesome is that.

I love Ruca so far, just because of his voice.
Iria looks so fun to play as.

Huh? Did I hear Wakamoto (Barbatos' seiyuu) near the end?

It actually seems really interesting. Though the main character does sound a bit... errr... strange. Though it is sparking my interest. More gameplay now! XD I wonder if they'll use the touch screen...

No, Barbatos' voice is different than that. Anyways, this trailer is ownage. I can see more voicing and development that Tempest lacked. Also, this also has a new forum for itself, like Tempest did.

But seriously, I reckon that this game is going to be good. It uses a similar combat system to Abyss, right? In that case, we've no problems. And maybe, just maybe we'll see some water based sword techs for the hero. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease Namco?

This game is going to be way better then Tales of the Tempest. Luckily I found out that Tales of the Tempest was bad, and I didn't buy it. ^^ haha I'm definitely going to get Tales of Innocence. It also features part of Tales of Destiny Remakes battle system right? The chain capacity for TODRemake was my favorite battle system. But in my opinion I don't think I really like the main character of Tales of Innocence some reason. He's innocent i guess.. haha but I want him to be more like the other main characters of the Tales series.. such as heroic of some sort. I can't describe, and think right now. ><

Ehh i bought Tempest. I didn't think it was that bad.

A little girl who was always an orphan, starving she dicided to steal an orange only to be caught. Ruca saved her by paying for it. she decides to join them because she thinks there is no point in her living and want to find herself on there quest.

I think it's the purple haired girl. Is this like, for real or what >_>?

I doubt it. The age is too young, the information is loosely tied, and how did they get the age and name without getting the height and weight? It's only on Wikipedia too, I've seen no scans of other characters. So I wouldn't get my hopes up on this one. ~.~;

Cant trust wikipedia so much and namco has not published other characters than Ruca and Iria. So this realy seems to be fraud.

Tempest is not so bad only that bugs me is that battle system, because its hard to block everything and almost every time you loyal COM-Friends leave you alone to fight 3 enemys and the gangrape you brutaly XD
