Title: Unfortunately...I'm looking forward to this :(

toomuchfreetime - July 26, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
Luckily for me, the first DS Tales game blew, so I had absolutely NO desire to go spend 150 dollars on a DS and import it.

But now...stupid ToI actually looks good, and the battle system is what I've been wanting Namco to do since ToDR got released (3D Aerial with Free Run)..

So, anybody else picking up a DS for this?

Sunny - July 26, 2007 10:32 PM (GMT)
I already have a DS, but I'm planning to get a DS Lite. And of course, importing this game. ;3

I'm one of those people who are hoping for a localization of this game.
I know, I'm way too early, but I really see this as the next localized Tales game.

That's the problem...I do too. XD

Arg, maybe I should just go and get a DS already...

Like Arel, I'm hoping for a localization. Half the fun is understanding the story.

1) It's on the most sold console.
2) It's more advertised and attractive than Tempest.

So...that would equal to more units being sold = Nintendo localizing it. Notice I said Nintendo, not Namco. Which ALSO = better voice actors. *Points at Symphonia GCN*

Erm...Tales of the Abyss had great voice acting, and that was localized by Namco.

Same here. My original DS is pretty trashed. The L button and right direction button hardly work lol. Maybe too much jamming in Metroid haha.

This game will most likely come out for the US but will take awhile. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't release this game for the U.S. As for Tales of the Tempest, it's nintendo, and 3D, but i guess the game is so horrible they wouldn't want to release it, unless it's taking them a bit longer. I'm disappointed in Tales of the Tempest. The only thing good I know about it is the opening intro music.

Rate Tear, Sync, Anise and tell me that again. They were horrible. Mismatched even.

Except it was funded by Nintendo, and if I recall correctly, they did more than a little funding.

I can say the voice actors for Tear, Sync, and Anise are just horribly reading the story scripts without putting some feeling in it.

.... After Luke is about to get slashed by the Oracle Knight in the fields, and Tear saves him, then Guy finishes the Oracle Knight off... Tear says, "You Idiot..."
It was just messed up and without any feeling in it. The voice actor just read it like a robot.

toomuchfreetime - July 31, 2007 03:32 PM (GMT)
Anise was fine. It's impossible to find that kind of squeaky Japanese-girl voice in English, so I thought they did a good job.

The only problem with Tear's voice actor was that she didn't have much emotion. But the voice fit.

And Sync just sucked, but that's only because spoiler had to change his voice enough to sound different.

But look how awesome Luke/Asch, Jade, Guy, Van, etc. turned out.

That was exactly my point! Thank you.

Actually, I know a certain friend whose voice would fit just perfectly. Actually, Kanonno in ENG wouldn't be bad for Anise. But Anise in Abyss ENG was forced. She tried too hard to sound like Japan Anise and that's why she fails. (IMO)

I agree that it fits, but what Judas said - "You Idiot" was the worst line ever. The only time I actually liked Tear's voice acting was at the end. She actually put emotion in the last scene, surprise-surprise. It makes me wonder why she didn't try from the beginning.

They should have just stuck with separate voice actors for better results. They aren't as good as the Japanese in terms of voice acting. Mitho's VA would have perfectly suited Sync, IMO.

I agree that the rest turned out just fine. Legretta didn't quite matched but her acting was good enough. Guy and Natalia fulfilled my expectations. But Jade on the other hand, could have been better. Remember the scene after you defeat Legretta for the first time? (I think it was at the canyon). And Jade says "Over my dead body!". That was pretty lame...the JP Jade sounded seriously ticked and that added realism to the cutscene. Plus, it was supposed to be "Damnit...this isn't a joke!" or something along the lines, but that's a different story.

toomuchfreetime - July 31, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
Jade was SO awesome though. Maybe that one scene didn't work, but his sarcasm REALLY came through every where else.

Mithos' VA for Sync is actually a really good idea. A lot better than what they really had.

i disagree i thought anise's voice actor was great she fitting anise's role as i would of expecting her too tear's for a 16 year old was abit low voiced but stil again great sync i... just kicked his butt so i didn;t mind him but i think that they did put emtion into there characters and it didn;t once sound like it was read staight from a script

point is there were'nt trying to sound japnese they were trying to sound like how the characters would talk in english i think they did a great job on it

Englis voice acting is always inferior than japanese, but still its not so easy to make english voice to fit a character. Ofcourse they can do it Dual-audio, but thats pretty rare. I have seened dual-audio cases like Atelier iris - series, so i dont realy see point why they dont leave japanese audio as optional choice. Some people thinks that that would lower selling, but in fact it would just higher it.

Anyway innocence looks good exept when i sawed trailer i was confused to that mainchar that is he or she XD? Voice was so "not boy", but its pretty usually today to young boy has a woman as his voice actor. im still confused that are that voice boys or girls....

So far i like that fist-fighter girl and Two sworder hat man most.

Companies don't leave the Japanese Voice tracks in because licensing fees for the Japanese Voice actors would cost a lot of money.

And the Tales series in America is already on a tight budget as it is.

The main character is a boy. You could tell just by looking at him.

Its good to have someone with that oppinion^^ Yes that is true that it will cost more money, but thats not problem to big company as Namco. Truth is pretty much same as Squares "they have money, but they dont use it to this kinnd of things as dual-audio". I dont realy even blame them if i was leader of big game company who has games which sells good i would probably do same thing.

I have seened NISA the more smaller company then Namco using "Dual-audio" So its definetly not fault of tight budged. Real problem is pretty much that Namco dont want to afford to Tales-series, because for Namcos USA-branch its not soooo important series its like a side series or something like Xenosaga. Bandai and namco merged so i guess thats will also rise budged.

My theory proves that when i compare TotA and Hack//GU voice acting i spotted that Hack has pretty much same voice cast, but they do it better and why? Answer is simple because Hack//GU will sell more and it has 3-volumes which way Namco bandai will get lots of money when people buy USA version. Thats why they have afford to that voice acting. So realy its just for money nothing else.. No fans.. No ordinary people just money.

Yeah its is a sad truth. I game makers do games to give a joy to people and fans to be happy this world would be better place, but unfortunately that is impossible....

for brake this offtopicnes: I realy want to have more information about those other chars what they showed in trailer "that sniper guy is cool too"^^

I wish Namco updated their site as often as Nintendo does. =[
