I watched the series a while ago and I have to say it's pretty good. I definitely prefer this over Mai Otome. Although I have to say I like Shizuru a lot better in Otome. XD

Really? Shizuru was awesome in Hime! I have yet to watch Otome yet though.

Probably the reason she prefers Shizuru in Otome was because she's less crazy and much more openly affectionate to a certain someone *cough*.
The anime is great, can't say the same thing for the manga, though. I prefer Hime to Otome because Hime actually had a plot while Otome had too much fanservice. Hime's episodes usually had a point to them.

Hmm...quick way to explain this...heck, I'm not lookin; at my keyboard or my screen as I'm typing this...
It's about these girls who are given the power to summon mecha-like monsters to battle other monsters. That's how it starts off, but as the series progresses, things start to change between the characters and their destinies.
