Sadly no. Having spoken (or should I say corresponded) woith owners of other 'Members Only' forums the option we've taken is the best one. They discovered that when people could just read the forum - no one posted. By making it members only to read people continue to post.

When you log in as a member there is a box you can tick that will store your password and username on a 'cookie' meaning that you don't have to enter your details everytime you log on the board.

The board has been a bit quieter than usual but it has picked up again over the last few days.

However if all you can see is two forums (including this one) you will have to log in again Lawty.

I can tell you now that that is absolute rubbish.

People aren't going to post on your forum just because you force them to register to even look at it. Instead, like me they will just say 'screw it then' and leave.

A lot of your forum visitors will be fans of opposing clubs in the run up to a game. They aren't going to go through a registration process just to look at your forum twice a year. Forcing registration just to read the posts is both pointless and unfriendly and reflects very badly on your football club.

If you say its rubbish then it must be then.

Lots of fans of other clubs are registered with the forum and they join in with the fun and frolics. What it does stop is the board being filled with the 'idiot' element that all clubs have and the place has been better for it since it stopped. And no offence but we're running the forum for the benefit, in the main, of Mossley supporters - not somebody who'll click on it once or twice a year.

If you've seen the top of the page or the board rules you'll realise that this forum is independent of the club so goodness knows how think it reflects badly on them.

There are lots of clubs at non-league level that operate their forum in the way we do. If you don't like it - fine, but it's not changing.

I registered a couple of days ago. Every time I try to log on I get a knock back, which essentially says that my password is not valid, or some variation of that.

By posting, forgotten password, this was initially resolved, the same password was re registered, but this no longer seems to work. Help, please.

When you click on log in at the top of the page, click the remember password checkbox too. This should hopefully solve it.

i registered months ago do i have to register again?

SJNR - January 12, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
No you don't docs. If you've forgotten your password click on 'log in' and then the 'forgot password' link.

You will be asked to enter your user name 'docs (fleetwood)' and you will be sent a link to the e-mail address you registered with where you can enter a new password.

i've had a clena up of my pc and don't seem to able to log in
Help

SJNR - January 28, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
Use the 'log in' button at the top of the page and when you've entered your details don't forget to click the box marked remember password.

In your user name there's no space between white and 1 (yorkie white1) so try that first.

If you're still having problems let me know and I'll change your password to see if that helps.

hiya pal when i log on it shows items from april 2007 and nothing up to date can you help

SJNR - June 1, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
Its because your membership hasn't been validated yet.

When you register with the forum an e-mail is sent to the address you used containing a link that needs to be clicked before you can view the all the boards.

If you no longer have that e-mail (it could be in the junk mail section) you can get a new one by clicking on the 'Resend Validation E-mail' link at the top of the page and following the instructions you are given.

If you're still having problems after trying those methods, please let me know and I'll put plan C into action.

What user name have you chosen?

Not:glm - June 16, 2008 02:24 PM (GMT)
Why am I getting an old edited version of the forum

SJNR - June 16, 2008 06:44 PM (GMT)
It's because you're not logged in. Make sure your user name and password are inputted correctly (they are case sensitive).
