Title: Captain Kobe
Dave Matthews Band - November 4, 2004 07:38 PM (GMT)
Kobe is obviously the captain of the Lakers. I think he will win the scoring title this season. The only question is, how many points per game will he average? Im going out on a limb and saying 36. What do you think?

Now, I think he will win the scoring title also, but thats all he is going to win. I will say 34 points per game.

He looked great out there last night on 9 of 21 shooting with one assist in 41 minutes. Looks like he'll at least lead the league in minutes per game. Odom had the second highest shot total with 10. Kobe took 9 threes. They lost. Lakers totaled 7 assist in the game.
Kobe probably will lead the league in scoring, at the expense of his team. He doesn't have too much talent around him besides Odom but does that mean he needs to take every shot?

he will obviously lead the league in scoring... with 32 ppg, and like someone said, at the expense of his team, much to the dislike of madsen35......

Yea he only had 1 assist because noone else on the team could hit a shot. I love it how you guys ignore the first game with Kobe's 7 assists and making everyone better, then when the TEAM struggles its because of Kobe. I think tahts what you call a 'hater'.

I don't blame the loss on Kobe, I blame the loss on Utah. They kicked the Lakers ass! Wether Kobe had a great shooting night or not... ya'll still would have lost. Utah was that good. Plus the win against Denver wasn't impressive because Denver isn't that good. I think they are overrated, they didn't add what they nedded. And plus like some1 else said on another thread, the blame is always going to go on the star of the team, especially since Kobe ran every1 out of LA...

I would have to disagree, Denver is a very good team this year. They just beat the best team in the West without one of their starters, I am pretty sure they don't suck.

Great post ntw. I've been trying to explain this since day 1.
Kobe was trying to set people up left and right. It wasn't really his fault that the Lakers lost. He couldn't have done much more.
Anyways, to anybody saying Kobe ran Shaq and Phil out of town, you couldn't be more wrong. Phil was likely going to retire after the season (he even said so) and Shaq wanted a huge contract. The Lakers weren't willing to give a 32-year old 90-million dollars over 3 years. So he got traded.
It's funny how Shaq and Phil were the only guys that had a big problem with Kobe. None of the players on this season's Laker team think Kobe is selfish. And Kobe is playing great team ball right now.

One thing, there are some players on the Lakers, that would open their mouths if they thought Kobe was being selfish. Unless you are stupid, you know the Laker team is based around Kobe, which is great. He is actually a good passer, his only problem is he has limited talent to pass to. He knows when he has to take over the game, and his teammates can't complain. He is one of the best three players in the NBA, he needs the ball. Like I said, if he ever gets selfish, someone will let him know, and so far I haven't heard anything.
