I really think Shaq deserved it more but Nash isn't a bad choice. It will be annouced on Sunday.

He Deserves it

He deserves it, but Shaq deserves it more.

I saw this on ESPN recently. Nash will be announced MVP on Sunday, but even if Shaq won, you can always make an argument for Steve Nash. Such as, Phoenix was 29 games last season, and won 60+ this season. But when Nash was on Dallas, they were 52-30, and after Nash left, they were 58-24. Miami was 42-40 with a rookie Dwayne Wade, which is pretty impressive, but when Shaq came in, the Lakers did not make the playoffs for the only time since 1995 (or 94?), and the Heat are 1st Seed in the Eastern Conference.

it was shaq vs nash al da way

Waqas - May 7, 2005 12:06 AM (GMT)
Just because players like Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, or Amare Stoudemire weren't expected to win, they were still candidates. You'll never know what happens. Nader probably would not have won the election, but he was still a candidate, right?

GoSonics206 - May 7, 2005 12:49 AM (GMT)
What are you trying to say Waqas? Do you think we should have payed more attention to how many votes Dirk got? If so then I disagree because who cares how many votes some guy who wasn't even close to winning got?

ballorama. - May 7, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
I think Waqas is saying that even thogh that tose players are not expected to win, you should still give them credit to what they did that paticular season.

Duncan- Good year but the injuries killed him
Shaq- Wonderful year but has D-Wade to give him help
Nash- Incredible year for how he effects the Suns offensively.
Dirk- Good season best in his career keeping his team alive
Lebron- Spectacular year for a Sophmore even if he is young he deserves a chance of what he has done to his team. Fighting for a playoff spot.

It kinda stinks that Nash won it, considering that players such as KG, Kobe, Lebron, AI, and maybe even McGrady are better but since their teams failed to reach a far level they weren't really considered.

Ah well, there is always next year!

Snake - May 7, 2005 11:29 AM (GMT)
Good on him hes a good player but Shaq for me also...Dirk possibly.

Vinsanity - May 7, 2005 11:51 AM (GMT)
Thats gay, Shaq should of won it hands down.

LeBron and Garnett didn't even get to the postseason. KG is a great player, but if his team was 5th or 6th Seed, he'd probably have a better chance. LeBron was way too young, and his team didn't have enough success after the last 30 games. Allen Iverson was great, and he had a chance. I think Dirk and AI had the best chances of winning it after Nash and 'O Neal. You look at Dallas, and see how, even without Nash, they become 6 games better. Tim Duncan was also great, but there was too much attention from Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli, as well as Nazr Mohammad from the end of the season, for TD to have a very good chance.

Shaq, has D-Wade to give him help. Why don't you mention Nash having Amare, or Shawn Marion, or Quentin Richardson, the NBA's leading three point shooter?

ballorama. - May 8, 2005 12:10 AM (GMT)
Oh yeaH SOORY I WAS thinking about Shaq at that time.

GoSonics206 - May 8, 2005 06:05 AM (GMT)
Waqas, you need to stop judging players on how well their team did. Look at Lebron and the Cavs and think of where they would be without him. I think they could very well have had the least wins in the league.

Sealy - May 8, 2005 06:08 AM (GMT)
Excatly, it takes a whole team to win. Dirk had a great team, Garnett, Iverson, Kobe, Lebron and Kidd did not. You have to work with what you got and there is no way Dirk would have gotten 44 wins on the Timberwolves this year like Garnett did.

*claps hands* Well deserved he helped make Phoenix a great an obvious championship contender team, and he just had a really great season, I think he deserved MVP go Steve Nash.

madsen35 - May 22, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
Nash is making me eat my words. He had a great series against Dallas and is playing out of his mind. We shall see if he continues at this pace against a better defensive team, San Antonio.
