Were you talking to me or WAQAS?

Waqas - May 12, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
Bring the knife tomorrow, Ahsan. You can record it an all, and it'll be NBA Zone'e best day, lol.

ballorama. - May 12, 2005 11:00 PM (GMT)
I will tomorow 4 o clock at Russel Creek Park!

Waqas - May 12, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
Oh. darn! How about Capstone? It's right outside my house! We can gather those pre-schoolers and give them the times of their life.

ballorama. - May 12, 2005 11:05 PM (GMT)
ok sure i KNOW where that is okay ill bring my special one.

bkbballer16 - May 12, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)
Fairly good team. I agree with it.

madsen35 - May 13, 2005 12:43 AM (GMT)
I agree with it for the most part.

I just don't like Bruce Bowen's dirty defense. Players like him can focus in and concentrate on just playing defense since they don't have much offensive firepower.

Players like Duncan and KG are more deserving since the expend loads of energy on offense but yet still anchor their team defense.

Honorable mentions: Cuttino Mobley (solid, wily vet), AI (gambles alot on steals), Kobe (only when he focuses), Shaq (not good at screen-rolls but he is a huge force in teh middle), Prince (long arms, able to block shots)

STOP LYING!!! OMG, I SAID DIRK INPROVED HIS DEFENSE A LOT THIS YEAR! I NEVER MENTIONED HIM FOR DEFENSIVE-TEAM!!!

GoSonics206 - May 14, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
Don't flip out dude, he never said you did. He said IF you did he was goig to "do something tomorrow."

Smith - May 14, 2005 01:23 PM (GMT)
I agree with all selections but one.

I think Tayshaun Prince deserves to be there. I don't know who would be taken out, but I think it might be Garnett. He is so versatile, guarding points guards to small forwards.

Waqas - May 14, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
There are lots of great defenders in this league, but let me just give you a couple of stats that can't be misleading:

Top 30 in Steals and Blocks, Top 10 in Rebounds:

Kevin Garnett
Dirk Nowitzki

I know Dirk is still called not a very good defender, but I know KG will make it every year. I think Dirk played good defense this year, though. Anyway, I would do the awards by everything defensive that can be said about a player. Steals, blocks, rebounds, and film of plays that don't go on the stats sheet. There should be a 100-150 people. You can start eliminating people very quickly. But voting in the NBA is still bias, so that can hurt players well known, but not as well known or liked as KG or Big Ben...

HFC6 - May 14, 2005 02:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah, DIRK is in the top 10 in rebounds, but Kevin Garnett is #1 in the NBA in rebounds (with 1108). Garnett is #14 in steals in the NBA (121). The stat that is close is BPG, in which Dirk beats out KG 1.5 to 1.4.. As was said earlier in this topic, KG is one of the, if not the most, versatile player in the game. With his athleticism he can guard someone at any given position.

detroit223 - May 14, 2005 09:53 PM (GMT)
Half the league calls Bruce Bowen dirty and I wouldn't exactly disagree with that. I don't understand why they didn't do it by position. You got 3 PF/C on that list and a SF as a gaurd and well Larry Huhges is a good defender but not all nba defense. I would take Bowen out and put Tayshaun in his place because Tayshaun is a great defender and I think he deserves to be there or maybe take Hughes out and replace him with Tay. Tayshaun was just one point shy of making the first team. He was behind Larry Hughes for that point. They came out with the second team as well but they have 6 players on it for some reason.

2nd team nba defense:
Tayshaun Prince
Chauncey Billups :o
Marcus Camby
Andre Kirilenko
Jason Kidd
Dwayne Wade

Smith - May 14, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
I really am clueless on how Billups got in there. I didn't know how it happened. Bowen is a dirty player, so what? That doesn't make his defense any worse. Artest is a dirty player, he was the DPOTY last year. So I guess they don't care about that.

Sealy - May 14, 2005 10:45 PM (GMT)
He is "dirty" on the court but classy off the court. He gets the job done and he is one of the best at doing it. Bowen deserves to be on the all-defensive first team.

However, Larry Hughes shouldn't.

ballorama. - May 14, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Larry Hughes should because of his steals and his other stuff, Gee he doesnt deserve it my bad.

Sealy - May 14, 2005 11:04 PM (GMT)
SPG doesn't mean you have great defense.

detroit223 - May 14, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
I mean Bowen fouls ppl alot and doesn't get called for it. His defense is good more because the refs make it look good not that it's actually him, but whatever. I don't mind him. I think Tayshaun is all nba defensive first team and I don't think Hughes deserves it so Tayshaun should've been there for Hughes, IMO. As for Billups, he's a very underrated defender. I was surprised when he was on the team tho but it's not like he's not good on D.

Agreed. You know, I've already seen the Wizards at least 12 times this season, and I've noticed that alot of times going for the steal hurts. Already in this series vs. the Heat, I've seen him bite on a pass, and miss. You know what that leaves? Dwyane Wade unguarded. He is off anticipation, sometimes and that can kill you in a close game.

ballorama. - May 15, 2005 12:31 AM (GMT)
Yeah he doesnt do anything. Tayshaun he is the Pistons primary players he plays their Defense and offense but defense mostly. His quickness his blocks his steals his rebounding all come together to make him a great defender.

GoSonics206 - May 15, 2005 12:37 AM (GMT)
Not to mention his long ass arms.

Lone Wolf - May 15, 2005 03:49 PM (GMT)
And his kick ass block from last year... against MILLER!

detroit223 - May 15, 2005 05:34 PM (GMT)
Yup those arms are long. It's not enough that his height 6'9" but his wingspan is 7'2". If it's not for that wingspan, he doesn't get the block on Miller. You look at it, he got that block with his finger tips! And I agree with the spg thing. It means you're gambling on D and alot of times it hurts you more than it helps you. Ppl who can't rely on their on-ball D, go for steals.
