NEW YORK, June 3 – Rasheed Wallace of the Detroit Pistons has been fined $20,000 for public criticism of officiating and using inappropriate language while speaking to the media, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President Basketball Operations. The incident occurred following the Pistons 88-76 loss last night to the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena.
From what I can remember, this is what he said: Rasheed: We had to put up with the extra help they got there(officials). This is what reallt got him the fine: "Y'all had to see it. Y'all had to see that (bleep) out there," he said. "It's so blatant. It ain't (bleep) to hide no more with them cats. It's so blatant, and I'm going to see out of all y'all who really knows basketball by reading your columns and watching your sports stories tonight and tomorrow. It's too blatant out there." "We will win Game 6," said Wallace, who has been whistled for 22 fouls in the series. "If they send good people out there, we're going to win Game 6. (The league) want it to be a Game 7. There's no other series. If y'all can't see that (bleep), then y'all crazy." |
He's not necessarily gauranteeing a win. He means that the NBA wants a game 7, so the officiating will be fair. You can't blame Sheed for being mad when you look at the fouls he picked up!

Your signature goes along well with that, lol.

I actually agree with a few of the points that Rasheed makes, but he knows better than to be a crybaby and embarass the Detroit organization.
Sometimes the officitaing is very poor. I think Wade flopped on a few of those calls that went against Rasheed in game 5. I do agree that the NBA would like to see it go to 7 games, because that way they get more revenue. But I don't think there is a conspiracy.
Besides, Rasheed has had plenty of calls go his way in the past. For instance, the Pistons shot more free-throws than the Lakers in every game of the 2004 NBA Finals. You didn't see Rasheed complaining then did you? The Pistons rank near the top in free-throws attempted per game, so I don't think Rasheed should be whining.

Well you know 'Sheed, always the rebel. He's probably the most hated by the refs, too, lol.

This whole season is just filled with controversy. Obviously you have The Brawl, and we have had numerous confrentations with officiating. Larry Brown, Jeff Van Gundy and Rasheed Wallace have all been fined for complaining about bad officiating.

Van Gundy had that huge conspiracy theory, though. He deserved the 100K fine. There were also things like Kobe and Shaq taking shots at eachother, but no fines.

20 grand  Thanks NBA and Stern for firing Sheed up.
They just did what they were trying not to do, Put the Pistons in the finals vs the Spurs.

This is not the past and have you watched this series? Really, the officiating has been awful. You even got radio stations bitching about it! But Rasheed has been in foul trouble in 3 of the 5 games before Game 6, so excuuuuse him for being mad! Plus, all you got to do is breath on Wade and they'll call you for a foul. It's ridiculous!

Lol, that's a conspiracy theory, but you're only one game away from making it true. And dude, you never blame officials who are working for no pay (isn't that true, or is it real salary?). No game is officiated perfectly. If you want to break Van Gundy's fine, go ahead thmbup. .
Smith - June 5, 2005 09:39 PM (GMT)
Of course officials get paid. Would you want to take constant booing, criticizm and threats for free?
I think not.
