First time roleplaying, or merely just confused around here? No worries! Here are some tips for you which hopefully can help you in RPing with us! Please leave questions till later ^_~
How do you roleplay?
It's very simple. Simply write your post in story style, but you are only playing as your own character. It is best to write in third person and in past tense. Quote your dialogues, italic/bold/single quote/anything your thoughts. Here's a sample RP which you can study:
| QUOTE | | Kaito slumped in his chair, feeling frustrated. If there was one thing he had to hate, that will be...fish. I wish there's a heist to go too now, he thought grumpily. Then he heard his mother calling cheerfully about getting fish ready for dinner. He groaned. "Please spare me," he groaned, hitting his forehead against the table. |
A very important tip during roleplaying is not to godmod. Godmoding means jumping in when it's unnecessary and controlling the whole RPG by changing the setting, write what characters other than yourself are doing and making yourself powerful. This is especially important to the original characters. For example, you cannot simply just know that Conan is really Shinichi, or simply pull off Kid's mask and find out who he really is.
You're also encouraged to write more in your post by adding necessary description, but you don't always have to do that.
What to do after you've claimed a character:
See if there's any RPG you can fit into. Try not to jump into one where others are still trying to progress, wait until a suitable time. If there isn't any for you, you're always welcomed to start one. There's no rule that you can't start another! Besides, I'm hoping that every of you can have at least something to RP about, instead of just hanging around waiting for the chance to jump into one.
If you want to continue an RPG, make sure you have read and understand what had happened earlier. That way, it can go on smoothly and not ruin the plot. If you happen to accidentally make another plot in the RPG, try to get out of it by starting a new thread. That way, the original plot can go on without disturbance.
I want to start a new RPG, but I don't know what to write!
Get opinions by posting in the discussion board, surely someone there is able to help you!
I'm playing an RPG where I need certain characters. They've been taken but not very active.
Email them, it's the most simple way. If you can't do so for some reason, you may request the admin to help you as long as you provide the title of your RPG and who you like to invite.
What if the character has not been claimed?
Get someone else to RP, or RP him/her yourself in your post. If you want someone to RP, for example, you decide to ask Aoko to play Genta. Instead of using her own account, use Random.
Username: Random Password: edogawa
You may also use this account to play temporary character, like a murderer or client.
That's all I can think of! If there's anything else, let me know!
