What you could do Donna is try and find out how much it would be to get a train from your end to Farnworth (changing at M'cr piccadilly) and then ask how much it would be to get a train just to Piccadilly from where you are and then another train from Piccadilly to Farnworth, see which works out cheapest.
I'll try to find out what trains are going to be like from Piccadilly to Farnworth for you all too, as not all trains to Bolton actually stop at Farnworth.
Hope that helps

The Bolton train goes through Oxford Road mate, so you shouldn't have to go to another station (thumbs up)
For those travelling on the Bolton train from Manchester Piccadilly, the train will stop at the following stations; Manchester Oxford Rd, Deansgate (although not all the trains stop at Deansgate they go straight onto Salford Crescent), Salford Crescent, (goes through Kearsley, Farnworth, Moses Gate & Bolton.

Sorry if I've confused everyone! I've confused myself too!
Erm, I might be going by train, changing at Manchester Piccadilly because it's easiest, but I might also be driving (if I'm feeling brave!) :D
But at this precise moment I'll probably be going with the train idea!
Hope that kinda clears up the confusion?
