Title: ISG Presentation!!
icklebelter - November 8, 2005 05:11 PM (GMT)
Well folks, I managed to make it to the presentation at Bolton Victoria Halls today for the presentation I'd been booked for. The lady who is helping me out with the ISG etc came to my flat and gave me a lift to Victoria Halls which was really nice of her. I am very pleased to let you all know that the presentation went really well, much better than I thought actually :D The first two speakers were sooo boring at one point there were three people in my row sat just doodling on their notebooks they were that bored. The speakers were just going on and on about stuff that really didn't apply to everyone, and everyone was getting fed up, I honestly thought I wasn't going to get my turn at one point too they went on that much *yawn* (scratch) I was starting to get a bit annoyed to be honest. Then when one of the speakers was showing off (she was a bit high and mighty lol) asking if anyone had any questions, and when people asked questions she really struggled to answer was quite funny actually when I think about it now lol But when they had finished, and just before I was due to go up and do my presentation, the cheeky buggers got up and left   I was sooo annoyed, I thought it was really rude of them to just get up and leave like that. So I thought fair enough, their loss lol.
Anyway it was my turn, up I went to the front and did the talk. I was a bit nervous at first, but once I got into it I was fine, and people started chipping in asking questions which was good for me as it gave me a prompt in a way LOL everyone in the room was taking everything I said in and were really interested and I got asked some great questions, which I must add I didn't mind answering at all. Then one lady said "Excuse me, I don't have a question really, it's more of a comment" I said "Sure, go ahead" thinking oo-eck what am I letting myself in for LOL and she was so nice, she said "I must say I think that what you are doing is great. You have such a positive attitude, you really are a great assest to the Support Group and I wish you all the very best in the future" awwwww bless, I didn't know what to say except "thank you very much". I mentioned the tv documentary and asked if anyone saw it, to which about half of the people in the room replied with a nod and said "yes" one lady actually started crying (not full on just had a few tears) so I tried to lightened the mood and said "now don't start crying... you'll set me off" everyone laughed and we carried on with the discussion.
Then I mentioned fundraising, and why it was so important to our charity etc, and oops I let slip about our charity do oops :P ;) well as soon as I said "I'm actually currently organising a fundraising event for in January" there were saying.. "where, when etc, etc" lol a lot of people were taking notes throughout my talk and lots took notes of details of the do which was great. At the end of my talk, I got a big round of applause which I was a bit embarrassed about, but it was nice. I put out leaflets etc, and one by one everyone approached me asking more questions, wanting my phone number to buy tickets for the do etc. One young woman also offered some entertainment for the night of the do (Excit) (Excit) (and no before you start thinking not 'that' sort of entertainment lol) let's just say it's certainly interesting and something very different. But that's all I can say at this stage as I have to clear it with the club and get the ok from them before we can officially book her and her friend!!! (Excit) (thumbs up) I'll keep you posted though (thumbs up) fingers crossed.
So there you go, a successful event I do believe lol and I'm feeling pretty chuffed. Can't wait to tell the charity about it :D
