Believe it or not, Series 2 Episode 5 of Phoenix Nights has strong connections to a episode of 80's TV show Miami Vice.

When Max & Paddy start to follow the man who they are going to kill, Paddy puts on some music. It's In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins.

This song features in a famous scene from the pilot episode of Miami Vice called The Daytona Chase. In the scene, Crockett and Tubbs are off to kill someone just like Max & Paddy were. Except the Vice had guns.............. ;)

Anyway, you can see why Peter wanted to use the music and the scene for that part in Phoenix Nights. Also, when you see the scene, you realise that it was also supposed to be a parody as well as a tribute.
