Title: How it Began.

Peter Kay Forum.. ..This is your life :P

First of all Happy Birthday Peter kay Forum! The sheer amount of members and posts this board has is fantastic! Its really come along well. Sorry If i'm going to bore you all, but I'm going to give you some history of the forum.

The planning for the forum started way before christmas last year, when me and my mate were discussing Peter Kay, so we decided to make a forum about him. We tryed to make one using Proboards but it was utter crap and soon died. I then looked around for other forum providers and found Invisionfree (IF). I began to learn about and how to use it. It was far more complex and I didn't have a clue what I was doing.

Then came christmas, and I got a brand new super dooper Laptop with Broadband. I spent a few days on it and soon got to know IF. So I decided to have another crack at making the Peter Kay forum. I made it on the 2nd, I apolagise for not creating it on the 1st :P. Once it was up, I went to the support forums to request a banner to be made.

I found Kingy on the support boards, and made him a Moderator straight away to help me. He was very helpful and helped me alot. Without him the forum would of fallen down. We linked up forums and got layout looking good. I advertised around and found some good members. Our next Moderator was Garlic_Bread? He helped us out and posted, again without him we would of struggled.

We kept going at a very slow rate, and I thought that the forum would die. I had no faith :P. I looked around for other Peter Kay Forums to join. I found a couple, but I felt this one was better. I advertised our site on them.

We had a five day break of no new members, at the time we had about 9 members which wasn't enough. But then two ladies named; dawneh and Shibbydm registered. It all turned around. They helped to no end and really gave us a massive boost. They advertised alot for us, and it gave me the incentive to do the same myself.

I found a fan site of Peter Kays, peterkay.y11.net. I went to the guest book and put our link on asap. I never knew that that link was the future.

Shut up I'm on a roll

On to the site came Ian and PaddysGal. Again they boosted us up and we began to grow quite big. I couldn't do it all myself so I made Kingy an Admin. He helped by changing the skin and making us look class. We were big enough to have a website supporting us, so I asked Web designer zinterz to make us a site. It was a quality site and I thank him for it.

Unfortunatly zinterz wasn't active enough, so the website went down hill. The Forum on the other hand was booming. On to the site came Just Me and peterkay774, who gave us another big boost.

We signed up thousands of online topsites, this improved our traffic and kept bringing in members.

A while passed, and finally I saw the light and linked up with Ians site. This helped greatly.

We kept getting fantastic New members like Kay1 and icklebelter. We changed the staff around, and Kingy stepped down. I couldn't do the site myself so I appointed Ian to take kingys place. Moderators also changed Shibbydm and Garlic Bread where no longer around, so Dawn, Paddys Girl and Icklebelter took charge.

We were booming and we had just purchased a domain. We were the biggest active PK forum around!

Time went by and we just kept getting bigger. However I didn't have the time to run the forum anymore, so I passed it on to Ian and the most active member Dawn took over.

I felt I made the right decision, but my mam went mad at me. She said I could of sold it on ebay for a pound or 2.
O well :P

I'm sorry if I missed anyone out.
Lets hope PK forum can double in the next year :D

happybirthday

Thank you so much to Ironside for creating this place that we've all grown to love, and for not selling it off on ebay!.

Thanks to Ian for keeping us going... lets face it I'm not really any help, but he does an brilliant job on his own.

And thanks to all the amazing members we now have, with the occasional possible exception (you KNOW who I mean!) they are a great bunch of people and I cant wait to meet up with some of you later this month..

happybirthday Forum... and onwards to the future !!!

Not a problem ironside...most people forget about me.....*cue violins and tears rolling down cheeks*

Just kidding Ya'll!!! :P

The forum is the best forum I have EVER been on, (and I've been on a couple). The people here are so friendly and kind, it shocks me sometimes how we got them all to post in the same place. ;) Thankyou to all the past and present Mods and Admin that have made the forum so fantastic. And another big thanks goes out to each and every person who has posted something.

The final thanks needs to go to Peter Kay, who inspired ironside to create this place, and inspired hundreds of people to join. And thanks to all the Phoenix Nights cast and Paddy McGuinness, for giving us so much to chat about!

Thanks guys, you are all fantastic and I love posting on here. (thumbs up) (hug)
