Title: Train times!!!! **TIMES ADDED**

icklebelter - January 9, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
I went to the train station today and I got the train times from Manchester - Moses Gate and from Manchester to Farnworth and vice versa for getting back. If you could give me a rough idea as to what time you are all expected to arrive in Manchester, as I expect you'll all be arriving at different times and what times you're thinking of leaving Manchester to go home, I'll post the relevant times for you.

Thanks :)

* Right folks here are the train times for you. I got these times from a timetable I was given at the train station in Bolton. I will go to the train station again to ask the staff in the information office if these times are still correct nearer the time of you travelling (don't worry I won't leave it until the last minute in case for whatever reason there are any changes to times - although there shouldn't be any changes). Now I must stress that trains to Moses Gate and Farnworth (you can get off at either of these stations although Moses Gate is slightly closer to the Fourways hotel) only go from MANCHESTER VICTORIA. If you arrive at MANCHESTER PICCADILLY you can get the metrolink tram in piccadilly station itself, just follow the signs and you have to go down the escalator near the 'Accessorize' shop you can't miss it. You get the tram that says 'BURY' on the front and it will stop at 'MANCHESTER VICTORIA' station, only takes a few mins about 3 stops if I remember rightly, and they run pretty regularly one every 10 mins or so I think. Once at MANCHESTER VICTORIA, ask for which platform you need to go to.

Train times for MOSES GATE and FARNWORTH are as follows:

From Manchester Victoria - Arrives at Moses Gate

11.18 - 11.32
12.18 - 12.32
13.18 - 13.32
14.18 - 14.32
15.18 - 15.32

From Manchester Victoria - Arrives at Farnworth

10.41 - 10.57
11.41 - 11.57
12.41 - 12.57
13.41 - 13.57
14.41 - 14.57
15.41 - 15.57

It appears that Sunday services from Moses Gate and Farnworth to Manchester are non-existent so it looks like you'll have to go to Bolton on the bus takes about 15 mins on the bus (or you could get a taxi not sure how much it would cost though I suppose you could ring a taxi firm up and ask how much it would be?) Having said that some of you might want to go into Bolton anyway for a bit of a mooch I don't know what you fancy doing, but I'm up for a mooch on the Sunday I can meet you no probs. Plus if a few of you are happy to go into town on the Sunday for a bit we could chip in towards taxi fares it would be cheaper.

Anyway here are the times of trains from Bolton to Manchester for getting back:

From Bolton to Manchester

11.02 - 11.24
12.02 - 12.24

These are the same time every hour.

Hope these help and Haze, I'll PM you the times for the trains for for you on the Friday so I don't go confusing anyone hehe.

Hi all

Clive (my hubby, born in Farnworth) was up there a couple of months ago and stayed at Fourways. He said you come out of the train station at Moses Gate and you can see the place. There is a cab company right next door he said. St Gregory's Social Club is about a 15 minute walk away. His brother had his wedding reception there.

I can't tell you how much I wish I was going to be at this do. If only I knew for sure whether baby Max will be having his heart surgery. He should be having it this month.

Hi Mel

No problem happy to help.

I have just found my note where I jotted the info down after I asked Clive and he said exactly:

" Manchester Victoria to Moses Gate direct by train. You come out of the train station at Moses Gate and go straight aheadyou should see a kind of car showroom/garage. Look to the left and you'll see Fourways, it's next door to a taxi cab company. The rooms are nice. Breakfast was Ok but the tomatoes came out of a tin, but you can have full English or continental breakfast. Parking at the hotel is very limited for anyone travelling in a car. It's about a 15 minute walk to the venue or just pop next door and get a cab and ask them to pick you up later"

Little bit more detailed than what I first wrote so thought it might be helpful to give you all he said, especially for car drivers.

Yes Mel it would be fantastic if I could get there even if I have to sit on the step outside.

Me and Clive could be Max and Paddy...lol

As Andy would say in Little Britain, "don't want another one, I want THAT one" lol...the closer this do gets and the more I have got to know all of you, the more I want to be there. Trouble is I am 200 miles away in Essex and lil Max needs his Nana.

Dawn, you WOULD need a taxi from Bolton to Farnworth as the centre is about 6 miles away from the venue and definately from the hotel.

I have to say though, up in Farnworth the taxi's don't seem to take their job too seriously. We pre-booked one after a quiz night at the Moss Rose (Pheonix Nights Episode 3, 11 mins in) and we waited and waited and when I rang to see what had happened they said they forgot and didn't have one free for over an hour so we had to walk back to the hotel. Was OK though..stopped at the chippie on the way and had a Wilsons Pie with chips and curry sauce.

Wilsons Pies shut on Saturday at lunchtime though for the weekend but you can still get one in the chippie.

I wanna goooooo...

PS

I think this lax attitude cabs have there is one of the in-jokes of Peter's when he did his Bolton gig and Mr Bee the cabbie picked him up...it seemed like a joke to us, but honest, that is how some of the cabbies are. One cabbie was Chinese and had Chinese dangly things all over the car and was playing a Chinese radio station. We told him where we wanted to go and he said "huw won houtside hor in?" I looked at my friend and thought do we want dropping outside the bar or inside the bar...lol If it's no extra might as well drop us straight into the bar...this is 100% true I kid you not

i guess the best plan of action is for us that are staying at fourways to get a taxi to the club and back together, it will save money!!!!

Don't worry hun we'll sort you out. We won't leave you stranded. It's probably better to ask Kay1 for the thram times if he doesn't mind, as it's very rare I use the trams myself. I'll ask him for you ok ;)
