What the episode is about: The Second episode in the series of That Peter Kay Thing “Eyes Down” is based on a bingo hall in Bolton looking into everyday life at the bingo hall but mainly following young worker Patrick O’Neil. Patrick O’Neil hates working for the Apollo bingo hall, he says it’s the worst job he’s ever had. Tom Dale is the bingo caller at the Apollo played by Peter. Tom and Patrick’s manager is Ron Hibbert, We meet Keith Lard for the first time in any series, he is teaching the staff from the Apollo fire safety “smoke kills in seconds fire kills in minutes and there’s no smoke without fire” Avid bingo players Rose and Tarsier have played bingo for many years Rose has won £300s once and getting her house fitted with a power shower “get for your back” Rose is played by Peter and Tarsier is Marion from Phoenix Nights. Patrick O’Neil gets more frustrated through out the episode after being told Ron Hibbert at the end of the night confirms his fears of dismissal.

What made you laugh out loud. At the start when Patrick (peter) says “what’s got 90 balls and screws old women…bingo…old people can’t beat em…pity” lol and the part at the end where Patrick is getting sacked

What was your favourite part?
When Patrick starts telling the camera who Keith Lard is and what he has done and he just bursts out with laughter.

Ah... so when Haze mentioned 'Eyes Down' she meant this episode of TPKT?!!! :unsure: OMG!!! how embarrassing I thought she was on about the tv series with Paul 'O Grady.... folks you should know by now I'm easily confused LOL *runs off and hides in a dark, dark corner* LOL Sorry for the misunderstanding Ian and Hayley oops

great reveiw......i think the keith lard bit is my favourite of this episode,i find it absoloutely hilarious :lol:

great review ian. my fave bits where keith elbows the fire alarm and eveyones gotta get out!! lol, theres more but i cant really remeber them, will have to watch the dvd again!

I love the bit with Steve Edge, where he is asking Keith if it was him that he saw with a dog. :lol:

And when the lady slips on the floor in the kitchen, so Patrick quickly moves a 'slippery' sign next to her before rushing out the kitchen without helping her.

Tom Dale just makes me cringe, the way he goes up to the old ladies and kisses them on the mouth. Did you notice the photos in his room, and one is with Bob Carolgees. :lol:

I love Patrick though, he would be someone that I would love to work with. Peter even says in the commentary that this is the one character that is most like him.

peter mentions this in the commentry. he says somthing like this isn't to be confused with the show on the bbc with neil and paul o grady which is also called eyes down :lol:

was it neil fitzmaurice that was in eyes down with paul o grady? i think i remember watching it and thinking it looked like neil!

Just been watching this episode now and my favourite line has to be in the commentry!

When he imitates that guy who came in for the audition of ron hibbert and said 'GET HIM OUT OF MY OFFFFIIIICCCEEEE!!'

Peters impression of that guy is hilarious! Anybody else notice this?

I love eyes down but I will have to watch it again as there is so much I have forgotten I love it when they are making all that noise in the kitchen with the pots and Tom Dale tells them to be quite as they are playing bingo :lol:

I have been to a few bingos and whenever I go there is always someone in the kitchens making noises and it reminds me of this episode every time :lol:

It's such a great episode !! Finding out about Keith Lard !! lol And the other incidental characters... The woman in the Lady Di sweatshirt (a top which re-appears in PN !!)

A top which i really want! If anybody finds it, buy it, and i'll send you the money!!

I will keep an eye out for you :lol: I love that character in Eyes Down, "we didn't have time for sex we were too busy having babies" :lol:

So did anybody actually see this episode when it first broadcast? Or were you like me and discovered peter a couple of years later and bought a copied dvd on ebay! :lol:

I first saw peter in phoenix nights series one because my dad said it was very funny which he was right about.

I knew nothing about Peter til I saw PN series 2 and then had to buy everything from Ebay :lol:

i first liked peter in phoenix nights series 1 i think,the first episode i watched was episode 3 or 4 (thumbs up) i loved him from there :wub:

Well i discovered him when i watched his bolton dvd, then i bought pheonix nights, and his corrie episodes, then i searched for anything else he did and i discovered TPKT but it hadn't been realsed so i bought one of ebay!

Turns out about 2 weeks later i got news that it was to be realeased later in the year, how stupid did i feel!

i knew my dad and brother liked him, but i never was interested then i saw phoenix nights series one, then it went from there!! peter2
