Name of the dvd/series: That Peter Kay Thing
Episode Number: 6
Episode Name: Lonely At The Top
Length of the episode: 24 Mins 19 Secs
Overall rating out of 5: 3/5

Main Characters? Marc Parc, who is now a solo singer after splitting from song buddy Cheryl avenue.

What’s the episode is about: This episode tells the story of one mans dreams to get to the top of the charts with his debut album, which is quite frankly dreadful! (Except for Christmas 2000 what a classic!) Marc Parc splits from Cheryl Avenue and hires a manager to help him with his dream, the so called manager of B.S taxis. On his way we see his first single ‘gonna make you a star’ shot in his local park with 3 women dressed in barely anything to which peter put it, he got them out of the yellow pages!
He then hires 3 african singers to help him with his album, but they get annoyed when they realise he’s taking the p*ss out of them, but don’t say a word when one of them says ‘think of the money’
Meanwhile Sheryl has released a documentary telling the truth about her and Marcs relationship giving Marc a bad name and making him evil in the publics eyes. The final blow for him comes when Sheryl releases a ‘cover’ song which sends Marcs album crashing out of the charts and making him unknown
With his fame gone he goes to live with his brother and gets a job at the local Markey!

What extras does this dvd have? Deleted Scenes and Commentaries

What made you laugh out loud. A couple of bits make my laugh in delight, The first bit is the commentary where peter says ‘ladies and gentlemen, welcome to moss bank park!’ Also where mark is reading the newspapers and they make fun of his big nose! Also seeing this man whiping a cock of a billboard is hilarious!

What was your favourite part? The whole ‘Gonna make you a star’ video! Its so cheaply made and peters face makes me giggle! Especially when he’s on that round a about!

Avaiable to buy at all good supermarkets, dvd retailers and online shops

Also a few songs from this episode are available on The Best Of Peter Kay Cd which is out now in most good music shops and online stores.

I know, Its a shame in a way because this series was so clever andfunny its a shame peter didn't revist this series, Ah well never mind! We still had one better coming up!

I know this episode is not everybodys favourite, due to peter only playing one character, but i think it still works on a high standard!

Great review Kay1, thanks.

I love this episode especially the first part for some reason where he is walking through the park with Lady his ruby King Charles Cavalier the same colour as his own hair. Saying how he can be anonymous in the mornings yet you know he wants to be recognised. By the way, did he give that coat to Craig in Cornonation Street..lol??

Then he scares that women by saying "Lady if you get sh.t on your coat I'll take this lead to your ass" and she thinks he means her..priceless.

Then the real southern accent comes out and he was dead good at it as well.

I too loved the musical bits like Brian May's 'Flash' and then 'African Tears' which was so funny and to have those same African singers in the Christmas scene as well. he is so patronising saying things like "they have never seen snow..and Andrew Sachs saying "but it's not real snow" and his reply "yes but they don't know that!"

I think this episode, as well as all of the others show how versatile Peter is as an actor and not just a comedian.

Love
Marlene

I remember this one -- I quite like the furore surrounding the Christmas song when the reporter or cameraman or whatever turns around and mentions it's the wrong Christmas!!!! Priceless.

I really need to watch these again!!!
