Awww look at this old fella on Youtube - he's all over the news on t'internet and on TV; he's becoming quite the celebrity, bless him. He reminds me of my old grandad who sadly is no longer with us :( Awww.....

''A 79-year-old British widower has become the latest internet sensation after posting videos of his life story on a website more usually frequented by teenagers and students.

Peter - who does not give his surname - has become one of the most popular contributors to the YouTube site since uploading his first short film nine days ago.

More than 460,000 people have watched this debut effort, which promises "geriatric gripes and grumbles" to a soundtrack of blues music.

Peter, under the user name geriatric1927, has gone on to post clips about his love of motorcycles and his experiences in the Second World War.

YouTube claims that every day people watch more than 70 million of its videos, which can be uploaded by anyone and range from the mundane to the bizarre.

In his first video, Peter speaks of becoming addicted to the website, adding: "What a fantastic place to go to see all the wonderful videos that you young people have produced, so I thought I would have a go at doing one myself."

He goes on: "I really am as old as I look, and therefore I think I am in a unique position.

"What I hope I will be able to do is just bitch and grumble about life in general from the perspective of an old person who has been there and done that and hopefully you will respond in some way by your comments."

His later videos reveal he was a radar mechanic during the war and became a public health inspector in Leicester after being demobbed.

In his most recent posting, he talks of meeting his future wife at college in Leicester, adding: "You have been dying for me to tell you that, haven't you? I will tell you more in a future series."

In another video the softly spoken widower worries that he has come across as a "grumpy old man".

Peter's wild popularity among YouTube users has led to his first video being listed on the site's main page and he has received thousands of appreciative messages.

Comments left below his videos include "I wish you were my grandfather" and "Peter, you rule the Tube.

"Keep them coming. Your videos are very informative and interesting. A history lesson I can get along with!"

According to his YouTube profile, Peter is a widower who lives by himself in central England with a love of motorcycles and blues music -but has no piercings or tattoos.''
