Name of the DVD/series: Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere Series One
Episode Number: Five
Episode Name: The Pig
Length of the episode: 23:22
Overall rating out of 5: 5

Main Characters?
Max and Paddy, Deranged Farmer (played by Graham Walker of the Grumbleweeds LOL); The Pig

What’s the episode is about:
This episode begins with Max & Paddy driving along, starving, talking about food. When Paddy takes his eye off the road for a minute, they hit a HUGE cow (that hasn't been taught road safety). They call at the Farmhouse to tell the farmer they've killed one of his cows and possibly put in a claim for Paddy's whiplash and their broken headlamps & bumper, where they see the old farmer out in the field tending(!) his scarecrow. When they start talking about compensation, the farmer gives them a sob story about how he has no money to give them etc and somehow Max & Paddy end up paying the crafty old farmer 100 quid for his 'prize breeding female pig' so that they can sell it for loads of dosh down at the Cattle Market and be quids-in. Of course, they get the pig down to Market where they discover that not only is the pig never gonna be a prize breeder, but it's also a male pig who can no longer perform(!) - nobody wants to buy her/him and they get laughed out of town. They then try several places to sell the pig (local butchers/Safeway etc LOL ) but of course nobody wants him. They discuss selling him at the car-boot, but Paddy's having none of that, so eventually they return to the Farm, where it transpires that neither the Farm nor the pig belong to the mad old farmer, but belong to his daughter & son-in-law. The mad old fella's out in the field sweet-talking the scarecrow and it's very apparent he's spent all the money he got for the pig on booze LOL
Dejected & still starving, Max & Paddy drive off. They call in at the Beadle's Arms(!) for a snicky snacky snoo. They are horrified when a hostess trolley type thing arrives for the bloke on the next table - Of course it's a whole pig complete with an apple in its mouth and the Episode ends with Max & Paddy ordering two nut cutlets..........

Laugh out Loud moments -
Pass the Duchy P'on........... OMG have you pumped??!......... Max driving in swimming goggles and Paddy waving the Magic Tree .............. Paddy's face when Peter calls him 'lacky'...........

What extras does this DVD have?
Outtakes, Deleted Scenes and Commentary Photo Gallery Trailers.

Are the extras good?
Yes apart from the commentary it was a let down.

Hehe, this episode is such a classic episode. I laugh my head off all the time at the beginning when Paddy kills the cow.... OOOPS!!

"Cow..."
"Y'what?"
"COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!"

*cue screeching of brakes and swerving to 'avoid' collision with cow.... whoops! Too late...*

The old farmer in it is just so funny, especially the 'is it hurt? No... it's dead...' bit just before he sells Max and Paddy the pg as compensation for killing the cow.

Then we get to the bit with the goggles... oh how I laughed my head off when I first saw that!!

Much later, we see Paddy in a rather fetching flat cap looking exceedingly p***ed off as Max tries to sell the pig to the young farmer.

And then they try selling the pig to Muslim(!) butchers... ouch!!

The episode as a whole is just so hilarious but it's not as funny as the episode with Cliff, Raymond and the boys in prison... *ahem*

First class review Karen! Great.

What stands out for me...well the 'man bits' the farmer was putting the finishing touches to on the scarecrow...he was so funny wasn't he?? The out-takes of him hanging onto the motorhome after giving directions had me in fits (as well as Peter and Paddy). Also when he told the sad story of his wife gettign knocked down by a combine harvester and is buried "over there", "and there.." "and there"...lol and Max says "rest in pieces.."

When they try and sell the pig to the butchers, not the first burcher shop, the second one, was that Fred Elliott from Coronation Street?

Here....mods...not sure about this episode, I clicked to reply and the heading reads 'replying to The Pig'....and if you reply to this it will call me a pig as well... (lmaorolls) (lmaorolls) Look at the blue band above where you are writing.

I have now played it frame by frame and 18mins 33sec into it you can clearly see it's not him, it's a wink of an eye in time before he raises his arm..next person to go to one of Paddys gigs, can you ask him to be sure please??

I did the credits really slow but the extras names didn't come up.

So! I think this is the only episode where peter and paddy thought they could have fun with it, I feel this is the case when i watch the outakes. The story is very simple and extremley funny at the same time, but i would probably say i'd rank this episode last in the series. I think it does have some classic moments, the best bit in my opinion is max with the goggles, that had me in stitches back in december 04!

DIRTY PIG!

However i think the outakes in this episode are the best ones ever! The whole 'got him by the valls' is classic! The outake where peter and paddy keep looking at the scarecrow with the 'extra bit' strapped on it and burst out lauging is hilarious! Also Paddy taking the mick out of Peter when he says 'look buddy' in Max's voice!

My favourite line out of the outakes is

'Can you wipe her up a bit'

Overall i give this episode 7/10! :D
