Comedy-drama about ex-con Paul, who is desperately trying to keep his decorating business afloat. As the cheques start bouncing and the debts pile up, Paul's wife Sheila wants him to give up and take a paid job with previous employers, the notorious King brothers, but Paul refuses to abandon his colleagues Terry and Dino. Keen to win a contract to do up houses on the dodgy Hag Moor Estate, Paul finds himself wining and dining the obnoxious, racist site manager, Gregg, at his own expense.

I wasnt too sure about this one... Dave's character seemed a bit pointless to the whole thing... it was OK... but it didnt have me falling off my seat with laughter !! Although there were a few good moments... plus an excellent tip on how NOT to drink a Flaming Sambuka !!

i watched it from about 9:30 till 9:40 but didn't spot dave though, spotted some one from the officies tho and somone from a itv sitcom

Dave certainly wasnt one of the main characters... almost seemed like an afterthought... although he did write it....

Weelll - I might be in the minority here, but I quite liked it :mellow: I'm a bit confused though - was it just a one-off or is it a pilot for a new series? It was an ideal first show for a series, but as a one-off it was kind of left hanging in mid-air, so can anybody put me straight ?

Ah well - I've found the answer. Dave's posted on another Forum - I don't think it's his Forum but he does seem to post on there a bit - that Magnolia isn't going to be made into a series after all. Shame that - I liked it!

Hiya. Just wanted to let you know that the BBC in their wisdom have decided not to commission a series. Said that it doesn't have enough "punch" whatever that means. I am quite disappointed as I know that the series would have had punch now that we've introduced the characters and I had a good six eps planned . I think it shows lake of vision and imagination or maybe bias , I don't know. x "

Magnolia showed great potential for a series.

Oh well! I have heard that Dave is also writing another comedy called
'Footballers Lives' and has started a new set of stand-up material.

So let's hope all that goes well for Dave.
