Any idea what time the show would actually finish? Cos if I could come over to Bolton, I'd need to get back to Leeds for uni t'next day.

I WANNA SEE THE SPIKEY TURNING THE LIGHTS ON... LIVE!!

If not, I'd definitely book a hotel somewhere in Bolton and skive off uni just for that day, haha!

EDIT: Just found out the whole thing would start at 6pm and, going on by timings at our switch-on in Leeds, I reckon it would finish around 8pm... I'd just have to find my way back to the train station then to get back!!
:D

In the words of Paddy... THAT'LL DINK-DANK-DO FOR ME!!

tommydickfingers - October 10, 2006 09:12 AM (GMT)
shame we live so far, as mum has a rather soft spot for Mr Spikey, but wont admit it

Hope you all have fun, x

Leslie - October 10, 2006 09:27 AM (GMT)
Oh I'm sure we all will, Tommy!!
:D

kegs - October 10, 2006 11:43 AM (GMT)
Have fun you lot, it should be a good night.
I bet we get somebody dead boring in Liverpool to do ours - Probably Mikey out of Big Brother!

I don't even know who'll be switching our lights on in Leeds this year but it won't be anyone big. I'm hoping for the Kaiser Chiefs to do it but they won't. I know it. We usually get c**p bands and s**t DJ's doing ours. One year we had Phill Jupitus, The Simpsons (don't ask...) and Chris Moyles... that's ALL I'll say on the matter... *ahem*

EDIT: Mel, you have a PM!!
:D

No probs Han it'll be great to see you there... word of warning though it does get busy in the town centre when it's the switch on ;)

Mel

Leslie - October 10, 2006 04:38 PM (GMT)
It gets busy in Leeds when it's our switch-on too, haha!
:D

Although probably not as busy as Bolton cos it's a bit bigger... *ahem*

LOL!!

I can imagine -- I've not been to a christmas switch on before -- they have a really small one in the village but don't promote it very well so you'll be driving through the market place one night and 'notice' there's lights on the big ol' tree there!!!

dinkdankdo! - October 10, 2006 11:47 PM (GMT)
yeah it would be great to meet up with you icklebelter and han too if she comes, its almost definate il go,be in touch soon x

tommydickfingers - October 11, 2006 09:59 AM (GMT)
ooooooooooooooo, christmas lights , we have about 10 fairy lights in out town and only 5 of them work....

I think the nearest we have had to a celeb turning them on is the 15 year old carnival queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

hmmmmmmmmmmm let me think, Kelly jones would be nice, ohhhhhhh and Russle brand  lol

Han - November 26, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Well, in between getting shoved from pillar to post and copious amounts of both tall and fat heads in the crowd, (Christmas events should not lead to bloodshed, but I swear if one more person shoved me out the way or stood in front of me at 6 foot and then put their small child on their shoulders I was gonna KILL them!!!! ...... 'Scuse me.) The Shutterbug's been on the prowl again and managed to get to the switch on -- not only that, but she got pics too!!!

Dave Spikey switching on and special guest all the way from The Pheonix Club -- and singing all his hits (Black Bin Bags, Corned Beef, Brimful of Asha!! ;)) Jerry 'The Saint' St Clair!!! Wooo-yeah!!! *claps* *cheers* *does general excitable-type things*

Give it a minute -- they're still uploading!!! ;)

gemma - November 27, 2006 07:12 AM (GMT)
Oooh he wore the white jacket!!
Brilliant pics Han,then again you always come back with great pics for us! (thumbs up)

Leslie - November 27, 2006 11:11 AM (GMT)
I went to t'switch on too, but I was right at the front of the crowd.

I tried looking for you, Han, along with anyone else who went, but the place got too crowded in the end so I ended up being squished in between everyone else and having this t**d of a child grabbing my leg and pulling me.

(To which I came out with a Dave Spikey-ism, though nobody heard me, thank God... "HE'S A T**D, GET HIM OFF ME!!")

And when Paul from Tower FM mentioned that there was a Wanderers shirt in the crowd (and a BWFC teddy), it was mine he was pointing out, hehe!

:D

I'm currently uploading my pics and I shall post the link here when they're uploaded, hehe!

And I have a short video of Dave with the switch which I'll upload to YouTube soon.

By the way, Han, mind if I nick some of yours? Some of mine didn't come out very well. Don't worry, I won't use them anywhere else.

kegs - November 27, 2006 12:29 PM (GMT)
Fab photos Han! Love the firework ones - they are amazing. Hope you had fun.

Go for it Leslie.

Cheers Kegs, Gems!! It wasn't a bad night really, despite the sheer ignorance of some people. Can't say I was overly interested in the local drama and dance group (or whatever they were), the panto or BWFC (although Lofty did assist me in sorting out the right setting for my camera ) so I had a wander round for a bit trying to get to somewhere where I could see the action!! ;)

Dave's stint was worth the wait though!! :)

Leslie - November 27, 2006 02:24 PM (GMT)
Cheers, Han. I've added your pics to my Photobucket and put a 'Photo taken by and © Han. DO NOT STEAL.' notice on them so, hopefully, nobody will steal them.
:D (thumbs up)

I hope you don't mind.

If you're looking for my pics from last night, go HERE and for the video, go HERE.

Oh and Han, I know I'm going slightly offt here but I added you on MySpace AGES ago but you still haven't added me back... yet.

Was it??? I didn't notice -- but then I was wearing a thick coat, a scarf and my gloves!!! And I was pretty much sardined in there!!

Leslie - November 27, 2006 05:57 PM (GMT)
That may be the case but, then again, I was standing round like a pillock for about a couple of hours before the show even started, haha!

Han - November 27, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
I see.

Right-o folks -- for them that's interested, read all bout it!!! ;)

Dave then returned to the stage as his Phoenix Nights character Jerry Sinclair to sing a couple of his most popular tunes including Brim Full of Asha and Black Bin Bags.

Cheers Han - I'd have paid good money just to see that, never mind the lights LOL
