Yeah it looks amazing! It would be really funny if it got better reviews than doctor who! I reckon it will do well because it is aimed more at adults and older children so i'll deffo be watching it!

knightriderno2 - October 21, 2006 02:18 PM (GMT)
Torchwood looks brilliant, can't wait til tomorrow!

Does that make you and adult... or just an older child??? ;) ;)

I'm actually looking forward to this MORE than the next series of Dr Who... I still havent really taken to DT as the Doctor... although Captain Jack is due to make an appearance in the next series so that should be interesting.... wonder if there will be the same chemistry between the Tenth Doctor and Jack... ;)

Remind 8 mins

dawneh - October 22, 2006 09:56 PM (GMT)
Well I dont know about you guys but I loved it... the first episode was a little slow - but it was still a good way to introduce the characters.... and hands up how many of you spotted several Dr Who references... anyone who DIDNT see Christopher Ecclestons series is forgiven for missing them !!

I think this is SO gonna be a series I will love !!

And JB just looked FINE !!!

knightriderno2 - October 23, 2006 09:18 AM (GMT)
It looks like Torchwood was a sucess with the ratings last night, or else people would have started complaning.......

Ian - October 23, 2006 10:00 AM (GMT)
I thought it was really good, like dawn said it had a bit of a slow start but it turned out to be great.

Han - October 23, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
I was quite surprised myself -- the first one I found hard going, but then, as an introduction to the show it couldn't be any different. At one point I was seriously contemplating switching off but stayed with it and the second one was just really good. Methinks I'll be tuning in next week!! ;)

Definitely geared towards a more mature audience -- I mean, using certain aspects of the English language within the first 5 minutes -- I bet parents all over the country were switching it off as innapropriate!!!

Well Captain Jack is CERTAINLY a aimed at a more "mature" audience !!!

Hope it does really well and gets a second series !!

And to think John Barrowman was gutted when he read the original scripts for Dr Who and found out he died.... how little could he have expected all this would come of it !

Ian - October 23, 2006 11:22 PM (GMT)
BBC Three's Torchwood gained an average audience of 2.4 million viewers last night, equaling that of BBC One's Wide Sargasso Sea at 9pm.

The Doctor Who spin-off, which stars John Barrowman as one of a group of alien hunters, managed an average 12.7% audience share of multi-channel viewing, giving BBC Three one of the biggest audiences for a UK, non-sports multi-channel programme.

The second episode followed immediately after at 9.50pm with 2.3 million viewers, but an increased 13.8% share.

Multi-channel figures like these have only been reached by US or sports content in the past. In January 2000 an episode of Friends on Sky One managed 2.8 million, a World Cup qualifier between England and Turkey achieved 2.4 million in 2003, and a match between Manchester United and Arsenal on Sky Sports pulled in 2.7 million in 2004.

The main channel BBC One's one-off adaptation of the prequel to Jane Eyre, Wide Sargasso Sea also managed 2.4 million viewers, but failed to match the 6.7 million viewers the final part of Jane Eyre reached last week in the same slot.

ITV and Channel 4 did best overall in the slot, with the concluding episode of ITV1's crime drama Prime Suspect managing 7.9 million and a 35.7% share over the two hour episode, peaking at 8.3 million (33.7%) in the first 15 minutes.

Channel 4's film The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen achieved 2.9 million and a 11.9% audience share over two hours from 8pm.

Tonight's episode was brilliant!

And in the trailer for the next episode, was that the Cybermen I saw in the background? (OOO) ;)

Juliet - October 30, 2006 12:46 AM (GMT)
You mean Cyberwoman?

Watched Tochwood and I thought it was really good. There was not much of Ianto on the episode, I fancy him along with Own and Jack. I think there be more of him in the next episode.

dawneh - October 30, 2006 09:31 PM (GMT)
It's turning into a great series this... as I expected !!!

Han - November 6, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)

Fab episode!!! Loved it!!! Do you get the feeling, though, that it's one 'to be continued' -- it seemed to end rather abruptly ...... seemed a bit up in the air still. Or did I miss something??
