PETER Kay is set to bag himself another telly hit — this time playing a binman.

The Bolton funnyman has teamed up with Royle Family writer Craig Cash to create a new comedy.

An insider said: “They were originally thinking of making a film, but are now doing it for TV. It’s really funny.”

Peter and Craig are now in talks with broadcasters.

Peter’s last show Max and Paddy was on Channel 4, which is keen to keep him.

As long as he doesn’t tell rubbish jokes . . . "

On Sunday, 20 March 2005, the single reached number one in the UK Singles Charts, and stayed there for 7 consecutive weeks. Given that in the UK Peter Kay is now more a phenomenon than a mere comic, it's bizarre to think that his childhood ambition was to be a bin man!

I bet he'll love every minute and I am sure we will too as it's so close to his heart.
